Default What's everyone up to today?

I am off to buy Chloe's school supplies and a few supplies for our new puppy that we are picking up on Saturday!! I hope to scrap later too but I am kind of in a funk with it and can't focus on it for some reason.

We are waiting around for a friend of Bailey's to come over and play. She flaked out on us yesterday and it looks like she's not coming---or is coming late---again today. We're pretty miffed. We'll be at the pool in a couple of hours, it's our last week off of school. School starts Monday!

The mom is my closest friend here---and she's flaky, but it's never been this bad. We waited four hours yesterday and they never came and didn't call. When I called her yesterday afternoon, she said, "Oh! I forgot to bring Clara over!" Hurm. Well, I said, "Why don't you all come over tomorrow for lunch, and then leave Clara here and I'll take them swimming?"

She said okay, and I said call me in the morning and we can pick a time. I got up early to get to the grocery store to buy the stuff for lunch. She never called, so I called her at 11:00 and she said, "I don't think I'm going to come for lunch. I scheduled a phone call for around noon and the L---- are here, I'm going to hang out with them since they've been on vacation. We'll come around 1:00."

That hurt my feelings, because these two other things were scheduled after we made our plans. And on top of that, here it is almost 2:00 and they're not here yet. Should we sit around and wait again? Hubby said if it's 2:00 and they're not there, just go somewhere. The kids need to get out of the house, and I'm kind of hurt and frustrated.

So I can't wait for school to start, just so that Bailey will be around friends more frequently. Summers are hard because everyone does their own thing and she gets left out. We're in a group that is all related somehow---lots of brothers, sisters, cousins, marrying into families, etc. Bailey is one of the only kids not related to anyone. She is definitely always a third wheel, so to speak.

I know what you mean, Chloe has only one little friend and rarely gets to play with him cause his mom works and in the winter he gets a cold all the time!!! I too can't wait for school so she can meet some friends

Scrapping a little bit, but mostly have been working on changing my son Justin's flight from DC back to Antigua because of the hurricane. He's now going back tomorrow. The weather situation was just too uncertain for me. So, a shortened break for him, but he will be back over the Holidays.

No earthquakes or hurricanes or missing friends here. Just DH and me. The younger two girls are at work this evening. It is so weird to have no children at home in the the evenings!

Off to bed for me now! It's been a tiring week with sick kids and me of course feeling unwell now. That always happens to the mum doesn't it?! Have to look after everyone else and then once they're better, we fall ill. Nevermind, our dreary winter is nearly at an end, I can feel Spring coming on here now. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, is safe from earthquakes and hurricanes and any thing else Mother Nature throws our way
