Default never say never

Living in a small country like Norway one really feel protected and not much happening.

But today that changed - one or more bombs have gone off in our capitol destroying the offices of the Prime Minister, other official buildings, major news paper etc. A lot of buildings have windows blown out. There is no indication of how many have been hurt and maybe even killed as this just happened. It really looks like a war scene.

My sister's partner works 2 blocks away and the building he works in shaked when the bombs went off - but luckily for him nothing more major happened for them.

Oh my goodness, I haven't heard anything of that on the news. It's like a country's innocence is lost when senseless things like this happen. I'm so sorry Vigdis, you must be really hurting right now.

they are now updating that it can be a bomb or it can have been an explosion f.ex gas bottles in connection with building work done in the area of the "political centre" of Oslo. 1 killed reported so far.

I really feel the goose bumps on my back. And I would prefer it to be a gas explosion instead of terror.

That this happened today is luck in disguise as it makes the casualties less since a lot of Norwegians have vacation now and usually the people in these offices leave work at 3 pm, being Friday and this happened after 3 pm.

Terrible shocking news, I'm watching it on TV. Thinking of you, hoping that you are all safe.

Like you, I'm hoping it was a gas explosion and not terrorism -- not that it lessens the tragedy. So sorry, Vigdis.

I would like to think it was an accident as well, the timing is, interesting, to say the least, so glad to hear that many would have been out of the offices-please keep us updated.

Well this is for sure a horrid act as we just learned that a fake police man has been shooting youths at a labour party camp on an island 1 hr from Oslo. The prime minister is from the labour party so this got to be related.

It is really a sense of an innocent country finally hit..... scary.

The irony is that my in laws from Israel are visiting Norway these days, on their way to Oslo as I write - and we have always talked about how peaceful Norway is compared to Israel.... Weird.

I have been watching things unfold on the news - how horrific. My heart goes out to all affected by this senseless act. We are still learning more as the day progresses.

What an awful turn of events. Why? Why? Why? It is inconceivable to me that something so awful can happen. My thoughts are with the people of Norway at this time.

I have just read of this and want to offer my sympathy to you and your country. Thinking and praying for Norway. There are no words to express the horror of an act such as this.

I am following this tragic story as it enfolds. It is shocking to think of peaceful, beautiful Norway having this happen. My condolences to you, Vignis, and and all those from Norway and most especially to the families of those killed.

Aino, that is very ironic that your in-laws from Israel are visiting Norway now. They must feel like there truly is no place in the world completely safe.

What a shock to your wonderful country!! My friend's daughter lives in Norway and my friend visits regularly so I have been told many stories about peaceful, civilized Norway. How dreadful!

The news is all a buzz about this, since it seems so very out of character, it will be even more interesting to hear the motive behind the actions- these actions that are just so horrible and unspeakable

This is so tragic Vigdis, I saw it on telly this morning when we woke up, I can't imagine how violated and helpless and outraged your country must feel. All those innocent people, and the children, it just defies all rationality.

Woke up this morning to reports of 84 young people dead so far in the shooting and 7 dead in the explosion. Horrible act. One norwegian has been arrested and it is really hard to believe what have made a man do this very well planned act of terror on his fellow countrymen.
