OK you've had answers 'what it CAN do'
My first generation IPAD can NOT

run any programmes that require 'Flash' (maybe IPAD2 will?)
there are NO programmes for scrapbooking (yet ) well there are but not worth the bother

But to add to the good news -
there are some excellent photo editing apps - Photogene by Apple, Adobe Photoshop Express.

What I'm looking for is an App. similar to ACDSee - I bought the 64G.

Thumbs up iPad....YES

It's portable, you can do almost everythng with it, you can hook up a keyboard to it, play games, listen to music and books, email, more games, scope out DD in the middle of the night to see who commented on your layouts.....endless!

You will love your new Ipad, Carol. I especially love it for traveling. We use facetime quite a bit to talk with our son who is out of the country in school. Congrats!

My dh just went on a fishing trip to Alaska (pray for halibut!) and this is the first time he's been on a plane since who knows when without his MBP. He only took his iPad. I was truly shocked but I think it's a sign of things to come.

I agree with all the ladies. With over 100,000 apps - it is a dream come true. makes you rethink the way we take info in, the way we entertain ourselves.

Love Flipboard, Ted, Yathzee and Doodle Jump. Cook with it, read with it, Myra is right - my BFF!

So you have to buy apps to run on this or can you install a program you download from the net? I've been given grant money for my daycare and was contemplating getting a laptop with the money but was wondering if a tablet (any kind) would suffice for my needs. Basically I'm looking for something that the kids could watch Nickjr.com on, run audio books, listen to music, play games, surf the internet and allow me to install my program that I need to use for my food menus and meal counts. The program is available from the web and then all data is stored online and not on the local hd. Would a ipad or other tablet be able to do this?
