Default 1975-1980 playlist suggestions...

Last night I heard Electric Light Orchestra's Don't Bring Me Down (in that movie Super8,) and now I am all fired up to create a play-list with rockin' songs from that time period... 1975ish-1980ish. Anyone got any favorites?!!

Spandau Ballet. Loved their songs. Am I in the right era?

And well quite frankly I was a Bay City Rollers girl, had myself some roller strollers too! No wonder I married a Scot !!! ROFL

And isn't Michelle Bachman related to the members of Bachman Turner Overdrive?

Elena, this is certainly dear to my heart! So much to chose from. I loved Linda Rondstadt, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Carly Simon, the Eagles...here are a few tunes that come to mind:

Queen...Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, You're My Best Friend
Heart...Alone
Eagles...Hotel California
Dire Straits...Sultans of Swing
Earth, Wind and Fire...September, The Way of the World

And as far as Electric Light Orchestra...Evil Woman, Can't Get it Out of My Head, Strange Magic, Livin' Thing, Turn to Stone, Mr. Blue Sky!

A few of my favs have already been listed, but for the late '70's I'll add:

Boston - More Than a Feeling
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Fleedwood Mac - Rumors (the entire album, but in particular Dreams and Songbird)
Todd Rundgren - Love in Action (Hello It's Me also by Todd Rundgren is from the early '70's but is really pretty)
Doobie Brothers - Black Water (released in '74, so just outside your timeline...)
Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
Queen - It's Late
Alan Parsons Project - Breakdown
David Bowie - Heros
Electric Light Orchestra - Turn to Stone
Robin Trower - Somebody Calling

I have several more; maybe I'll just pm you.

Whoops! I see I'm late to this party--you've already posted your play list! Give me another year and I'll start compiling my favs now.

So many classic bands!

I love your list. I love this era. I'm not really that old (cough cough) it's just my brother is much older and I listened to his music.

Here are some I would add:

Blondie ? Call Me, One Way or Another
Supertramp - Take the Long Way Home
Lynard Skynyd - Sweet Home Alabama (1974 actually)
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions
Cars - My Best Friend's Girl
Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop, Rhiannon
REO Speedwagon - Time for Me to Fly
Billy Joel - Just the Way You Are, Movin' Out
Cheap Trick - I Want You to Want Me
Heart - Crazy On You
Doobie Brothers - What a Fool Believes
Eagles - One of These Nights, Hotel California
Exile - Kiss You All Over
The Knack - My Sharona
Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Chicago - If You Leave Me Now
Rolling Stones - Miss You

Boy these take me back to my dancin' days too. Of course I was already a mom of 3!

One of my absolute all time favorites is "Jessica" Allman Brothers. I could listen to that all day, well maybe half a day.

I can't believe Bon Jovi hasn't been mentioned.....(swoon!) These would be from the mid-80's.

Wanted Dead or Alive
You Give Love a Bad Name
Livin on a Prayer

I can't do my treadmill workout without them.....

I just found in iTunes they have an "essential collection" for every year. It has the top 75 songs of the year. Go to iTunes Essentials then click on the box that says '70's Year by Year. That will take you to a page that has each of the years collections. Makes shopping for the '70's tunes easy!

I love 80's music... my parents always said I was born ten years too late.

My favorite bands were Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, The Cure, U2, Peter Gabriel, and of course all the wonderful one hit wonders

Not to mention I love any and every hair band

Lots of good stuff already mentioned, but how about Eric Carmen's, "All by myself" and almost anything by the Guess Who, like "Clap for the Wolfman". I remember my dad being super angry with my sister over the "Who's Next?" album cover. Pretty tame by today's standards.
