Default I think I'll plant a cactus!

I have several large beds of flowers and shrubs...the temps have been in the high 90s here every day for the last few weeks with no rain. The new plants that I put in didn't get a chance to become established before this heat set in.

Dh and I come home from work every day and each of us grab a hose and water for about an hour! I'm just waiting for watering restrictions in our area. It was still 93 degrees the other night when we went to bed

I feel your pain, Amy. Our temps have been around 96/97 this week, but we did get a good drenching yesterday afternoon. Hoping our pattern of afternoon showers is kicking in.

Well, I may have a few suggestions for you However, it is just now starting to get hot here, which is VERY unusual. Wacky weather all over the place. My sil recommended this series about how six degrees will change the world... Six Degrees Could Change the World DVD - National Geographic Store

We are in a drought. No rain for months and the temps are over 100. Just set my sprinkler system to water 3 times a week to try to keep the grass alive. Rocks instead of grass is beginning to sound good.

I think the people in our area need to share. 2 days ago they got 2" of rain on the east side of town. Our side got nothing, but then we didn't have water up to our car windows either. I don't get this weather. My mom said they are restricted with watering now in Houston, too. Hope things get better. Drink lots of lemonade. :O)

Wow, send some of those warm temps our way. We have had summer temps the beginning of the month, now it's more like fall around here and enough water... hope the cycle breaks soon for you!

Since my St. Augustine grass died from drought or grubs (who cares or knows) we are just dirt farmers on this side of town!!

No watering in the Northeast yet.. and very cool temps for this time of year.. last week we had 3 days that were really cold and rainy.. then suddenly two days of brutal heat (close to 100) then 3 more days of cold and rainy.. right now we have May weather.. sunny and in the high 70s.. very strange weather year.. hope your flowers survive

Oh Amy.....I am wishing I could send you our extra rain and cool temperatures. It was 35 degrees here yesterday morning. The flooding along the Missouri really starts here from our extreme rain events this spring and it's just so sad to see all the flooding and then you guys burning up with the heat and drought. Too bad we can't have a happy medium!

I'm with you Amy ... it is hot and dry in West Georgia as well. It has been 90+ for 17 of the last 18 days and that one day was 89 ... the 7 day forecast has 95+ each day. It appears my Japanese Maple is about to bite the bullet ... it's 5 years old but the leaves are already brown on one large branch ... I watch it everyday hoping no more leaves are turning brown. I just dread the real hot days of summer which normally happen mid-July through mid-September ... at this rate, we'll have 100+ temps every day. But I DO LIKE the heat better than the cold :-)
