Default Apple I Tunes woes

Apple Can't Stop Ongoing ITunes Charge Scam | PCWorld Business Center

It got me..before I went to work this AM I found that two charges were made from the ITunes Store to my PayPal account to the tune of $160 total. Couldn't wait to get home to find out what was going on and by then there was another $30 added. To make a long story short, there is a huge problem with hackers getting into ITunes accounts and making big purchases..music, games..some kind of game points...you name it! Fortunately, PayPal reversed the charges..I filed a complaint and it was less than four hours later they were on the phone letting me know they got it straightened out. I changed my password but also took out my payment info..it was so easy to just get those cool little apps for the phone but from now on I will have to go to the "trouble" on putting the payment information in each time. Just thought I would share so you guys could be watching out for any suspicious charges.

When my cc info was stolen two years ago, the first charge made was to iTunes. The bank told me that hackers (who am I kidding, they are thieves!!!!!) make a small charge to iTunes and if that goes through, they move on to bigger stuff, like airline tickets. Fortunately, my bank caught it and they just had the card number, not the confirming info. I didn't have to pay for anything, but the downside was that until they cleared everything up and sent me a new card, I was without a cc for a month and a half. I am in the habit of using cash more often than not.

Not all cc errors are hackers. Ever sign up for a gym and have to give a card no? Recently in the news, a gentleman in Toronto had signed up for a 3 month membership. The 3 months ended and the gym was bought out by a conglomerate. The gentleman did not check his statement and continued to pay the monthly gym fee for 2 decades! He only recently noticed and the gym refunded him the money, around $7000. He was lucky!

Thanks for this. I have cancelled my details on iTunes now. I'll use prepaid cards in the future. Great idea.
