"e.coli...found in organic cucumbers originating from Spain, packaged in Germany, and distributed to countries including Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg and Spain."

Big Food. Somehow that trail of food to customer is so much longer than necessary.

Yes, scary, but the trail is long-I am excited to move closer to where more food is grown!

Eek -- we were just in Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary AND had a layover in Germany. Off to check e.coli symptoms.

apparently there are troubles with Florida cucumbers, as well. when i was shopping yesterday, there was a sign up saying that the source of my store's cukes was Georgia, not Florida, which is the origin of the bad cukes here in the USA.

Sadly, we have 16 deaths from EHEC, 1600-2000 infected, mostly in the north of Germany, that is, the Hamburg area. It is not even sure if it's the cucumbers or other vegetables that carry the EHEC, but they know for sure it's not the cucumbers from Spain. It might be any food is the bad news we got today. Other European countries are affected as well but not to these dimensions. We are desperately hoping that this evil thing will soon end and our prayers go to those in hospital suffering the utmost. Excuse my English, not very good at explaining and please, cross fingers. Thanks to all of you.

Very scary indeed. And now my husband has issues with green onions as they too have had issues with E. coli. My prayers go out to those who have died.

My DD is vegan, and she just asked if she could have the cucumber in the frig - and I snapped - "wash it good", and she said - "Mom it's not like it came from Europe" I told her you can't be too safe, I feel so bad for all the people affected. I understand it can hit you so quick. My friend just came back from Italy and Switzerland, and she is as sick as a dog, and is afraid after hearing about all that died, or are sick. She went to the Dr just to be safe. My prayers go all to everyone.
