Default Royal Wedding

Just wondering what sort of interest is it getting in America?

I'm really looking forward to it, live broadcast ends up in prime time on Friday night in Australia. I will be a complete couch potato watching it all from start to finish..

I'm also going to a High Tea on Friday morning. A wedding/party decorating place is doing a fundraiser for our local health community centre, dress as if you are going to the wedding (or something appropriate to the occasion), enjoy the high tea and the end of the invitation/advert it says "corgis welcome" so there's a bit of tongue in cheek happening too with the festivities. My friend I'm going with has raided her daughter's dress ups and is wearing a tiara amongst her finery (plastic at that!!)

Definitely going to be a scrapworthy event! te he

Lots of coverage on TV here in the US. I'll be rising early on Friday morning to catch as much of the wedding as I can before we leave to go to the Cape for the shuttle launch. Wouldn't you know they'd schedule the launch the same day? Argh!

I'll be watching!! (maybe a recorded version after I get everyone shuffled off to school, but watching nonetheless!) This wedding brings back such fond memories of Charles and Diana's wedding. My mom and I got up in the middle of the night and huddled around our little tv to watch the wedding together.

I too am planning on getting up and watching some live before I head to work - and then most likely will watch replays all evening and on youtube. It makes me think of getting up with my younger sister and Grandmother to watch Charles and Diana's wedding!

I'll never forget getting up in what seemed like the middle of the night to watch the wedding on our tiny black and white tv.

I'll probably tape it but I'll have to watch alone.

My mil reminded me today about the wedding. I knew it was upcoming but didn't realize the day is fast approaching this week. I would have to be up at 4:00 AM to watch live, which probably won't happen, but, I will turn on the TV the minute I get up! I think the bride and groom are so attractive and I love the pageantry of Royal Weddings.

Carol, your party sounds so fun!!

I agree - love the idea of a party. It's on at 6pm here, so I'll probably catch most of it.

I'll be watching it at the office after taking dear husband to the airport.

I still remember my first royal wedding in 1976, when our King married his Silvia. I sat glued to the TV with my mom, watching every minute of it!

Then there were the British ones during the 80's, Charles & Diana in -81, Andrew & Sarah in -86.
The Norwegian Crown Prince in 2001 and the Danish in 2004.
And then our own Crown Princess last summer!

oh i'm absolutely watching! in fact my best friend in CA and i are going to "watch" together and check in via telephone for "quick" critiques. scones and tea are on each of our watching menus. she claims she's donning a fascinator for the grand event. wonder what that looks like with flannel pjs and fuzzy slippers?!

How fun! My mom remembers getting up at 4:00a.m. to watch Princes Diana's wedding. This one will be on at 1:00a.m. I'm definitely tempted to stay up and watch it. Linda you are going to the launch??? Our Arizona congress woman Giffords (who was shot in the Tucson tragedy) got the okay yesterday to go and watch her husband launch. So exciting for so many reasons. Enjoy and have a wonderful time!!!

I am totally wrapped up in the whole thing and Britain seems to be going all out to celebrate, which is amazing (and just what we need- including a bank holiday!). I always find we (Brits) are far less patriotic than other nations (like the Americans, LOL!) and the Royal Wedding is really uniting us - there are flags and bunting everywhere!
I am planning to celebrate at home with close family - a Royal Wedding garden party. Everyone must dress in red, blue and white (oooh, will feed my need for colour co-ordinated photographs!). I really can't wait - what a brilliant reason to celebrate - and I'm thrilled the whole world is behind Wills and Kate! x

I am having a "Wedding Party" with my daughter. We are getting up at 4 AM, staying in our jammies and going to do girlie things. Going to do an abridged version of a high tea. I also ordered a mini-wedding cake for the festivities.

Love the idea that so many of you are going to watch it even at unsociable hours.

I think we'll watch it, Royal Weddings don't come around that often, and I'm sure Amy will love it. Have to say though, I was in England a couple of weeks ago, and there's much more evidence of it in the shops there than up here, guess we're not as fussed as down South.

They do seem a lovely natural couple though, hope they can weather life in the spotlight.

I've heard of several tea parties in the planning for this event. I will NOT be getting up at 4AM, but I will have the dvr set to record. :O)

I am planning to watch. 4 am is not too much of a stretch for me, as my husband gets up at 4:30 everyday for work. Now that I think about it, it might be 3am CST. Can't wait!

I asked my 9 year-old dd if she would get up early with me, and am happy to report she gave me an enthusiastic "yes!" I was 15 when Charles & Diana married, and I remember getting up early to watch that. Sooo excited to share this event with my dd! Especially since she grumbles every. morning. about getting up at 6:30a to get ready for the bus.

That reminds me, I must make scones this week. I have some yummy oatmeal ones...now...do I have dried cherries for them? Yum. Later that day I am going on a girls' weekend to a friend's cottage, and one of them is trying to re-create the wedding dinner menu...but only she is into it

Apparently there have been zero applications for street parties in Glasgow LOL!!! Victoria was home for the weekend and amazed that Scottish news isn't covering EVERYTHING about Kate Middleton all the time like London, especially as they did meet in St Andrews after all! I'll be watching in the morning, going to a celebration tea party in the afternoon and then Colin and I are heading to London in the evening...happy days!

I watched a telemovie tonight, William & Kate a love story, or called something like that. I love that some movie director thinks he knows what went on behind closed doors! Oy!

I clearly remember getting up early for Diana's big wedding in 1981! This time, I'm firing up the DVR and when I wake up, drinking my coffee and eating a scone in front of the TV.
My hubby scrunches up his face whenever a news report is aired about the couple, so I don't think he'll be joining me!

Hate to be the kill joy. Nope. Not watching. I'm going to a family wedding in a week across the country. That's more than enough wedding for me.

I have been teaching the kids about the monarchy and doing some history lessons. We are going to dress up and have tea later during the day and I wish I had prepared early enough for fun party treats but I have a few things up my sleeve. I know this will be the type of event that my kids refer to as "I remember when they married". Etc. Just as I say that abouy Princess Dianas crash and other various events on my younger days.
