Default Eagles

I don't know if any of you are following this, you get some cute glimpses at the chicks. One more egg has to hatch. Check out dinner on the nest

Decorah Eagles, Ustream.TV: First hatch 4/2/11. 24-hour collage of first egg pip and hatch Second hatch 4/3/11. First glimpse of second hatchling Third...

I've been watching this and it's amazing to me. I was watching mom feed them yesterday. Did you read that that nest is 5-6 ft wide and weighs 1 1/2 tons!

If you click on First Glimpse (below the video) you can see both the mom and dad. Then scroll with the bar to about 7:40 and you'll see the second chick after it hatches. :O)

I can't believe how interesting this is to watch. Um, right now there is something in the nest they are eating...is it a bird or a rodent of some kind?

BTW: I lived in Decorah, Iowa for 2 years when I was growing up. It is a beautiful town, often called Little Norway. Looks a bit cold and windy there today!

At the lake a pair of eagles nest in the tallest pine tree in front of our son's cabin. Of course, we never get to see into the nest like this!

Yesterday it was a bird (crow I guess) and a fish from the hatchery that they live above. I thought that was pretty smart of them to build there. :O)

Thanks for sharing this, filled up the time while tea was cooking nicely after a dreary day of rain. Amy was fascinated, glad there was no obvious food in the nest while we were watching though.

I check in on the eagles every morning. I see two little chicks peeking their heads out from under the parent. So cool!

Merr, the third one just hatched yesterday afternoon. You can see a replay if you scroll down just a bit! I love watching them, I have them on a separate tab all day long LOL

Anke, I have it open all day, too. (My guys think I'm nuts) I saw the 3rd egg start to hatch and when the mom sat on it I was like, "Whaaaaaaat? I've been waiting days for this!" lol I think it's amazing that we are able to see something like this. Wasn't it great when the dad came back with another fish?! Like he was bringing her flowers for his new baby. lol

Can you believe how big they are? I've been watching on a daily basis wondering how long before they get their flying lessons. Too bad that camera won't be able to catch that. :O)

The babies are getting so big I wonder how they all fit in the nest with mama at night?

Maybe we'll get to see them taking off and landing if we're lucky, Kelly.
