Default blizzard 2011

Just curious how many of you DD gals are going to be stranded, warm, inside during this monster snowstorm? I'm taking a homeschool snowday to bake, scrap, and try to keep the drive clear as possible so my hubby can actually get his car up the drive.

Here south of KC, we are expecting 12-15", but with the 30-50mph wind gusts and single digit temps, it is gonna feel like a northern plains blizzard. Oh, and add that to the ice we had yesterday. YUCK!

i'm here in PA, WISHING that we were getting snow! instead. we've got ice coating everything, cars going sideways down the road, and generally a big mess at the moment. AND, because of the ice dam up in my gutters, i've now got water pouring in from the top of one of my windows. i've been capturing drips all morning!

good luck with your part of the Monster storm. WHEN WILL THIS WINTER END!!??

Dang, Phylis. . . sorry about the water. :O\ School never stops here. They are too good at clearing the streets. So, it's just more of the same here with high winds and a high of 3 degrees today and -1 tomorrow. It's the windchills we have to worry about. So, we bundle up and do what we need to do. Right, Merr? Get out the hot chocolate. :O)

Oh, I hear BOTH of you loud and clear! We are "anticipating" another foot of snow (over the next two days) on top of the almost 5 feet we've already received. And although it is in the teens right now the temps are expected to warm over the weekend so I expect the ice dams on our roof to explode! That darn groundhog better bring good news tomorrow or I worry for his safety!

Yeah, you guys up north must sit and giggle at all the news coverage a storm like this gets, huh? Here the big news is that we will get enough snow and tall drifts that the pick-ups with snowplows won't have enough power/weight to push it and will have to wait for the big trucks to plow everything.

What Debbie said. We've already gotten 4 inches already today and this is supposed to be out "light" snow.

I do NOT like seeing the words blizzard and 2011 in the same sentence.

My Photojojo pictures that came today show last year...the east coast snowmageddon. Pretty but still...

I couldn't even imagine. We got 12 inches earlier this year and it was so bizarre how everything just seemed to stand still for a day. Stay warm and safe everyone!

Kelly is right...we do what we have to do to survive the winters where we live. (Kelly in SD and I'm in MN). Since it so cold where I live the snow stays on the ground and just keeps getting piled up deeper and deeper.

It seems to be an unusually cold and stormy winter for many parts of the country that aren't used to this. I hope everyone stays safe and warm.

Mts. in CO are getting TONS of snow this year but it's so dry in the valley... I had to water the trees last week when it was pushing 70 but today we'll not get above zero... bright sun feels wonderful... 20 below by morning... Fenway is perplexed that we won't stay out longer. She just does a tap dance to keep her paws moving. I just sit in front of my computer letting my fanny grow. Stir crazy so it's time to hit the treadmill... that's an emergency for me... don't like looking at basement walls... Stay safe dear friends...

Everyone stay safe and warm! I'm really not missing the MN weather. You're right - it just keeps piling up making it really difficult to drive because you can't see around the piles!

Kelly, you're near Kansas City/Overland Park, is that right? I have an old middle-school friend who is a professor at Kansas State (?) who just Skyped me to complain they've been closed for two days. Wimps. Well, we're not getting any out-of-the-ordinary weather down here in the deep South, just a LOT of rain. Cold and rainy. Mold grows on everything. Stay dry and safe, and have fun with the snow!

We had a little ice here this morning, looks like the storm went north of us , which is a good thing. Hoping the second part of the storm misses us too.

On my side of the state line, I'm seeing "Blizzard of Oz!" Got mid-thigh drifts down our long drive. Don't think the snow-blower is gonna be able to handle it, guess we'll figure it out tomorrow.

Hubby's 102 yr. Old aunt in St. Marys KS said it's warm in her apt (she still lives by herself) and if the power goes, she'll just get in bed under the covers and take a nap. I want to be like her when I grow up... Pioneer spirit indeed.

I'm just a little North of KC and it's cold and snowing here like crazy! My kids got out earlier today before it got too bad. My hubby and I were guessing how long they'd last. They came tramping back in after about 30 minutes, longer than I expected!

Well, They just made a liar out of me. School is cancelled for tomorrow due to dangerously low wind chills and there are too many kids that walk to school. Good for them. :O)

Sending you all some of our 40ish weather. Amazing that it's supposed to go up to 50 today! Seems almost warm out there now though I know we just squeaked by.
