My eldest daughter turns 18 in just over a week and her father unexpectedly gave me some money and I went out and splurged on a Wii for her (us). (He of course will never know.) This may seem a strange present for this birthday but my daughter is intellectually disabled and has in the last year also developed psychological problems. She does not understand numbers at all (ie times/money etc) and also has motor skill problems. It is difficult to play games together as she does not understand the rules but I am really excited that with this we should be able to have some family fun together. She can use a computer so don't think she should have a problem with the control. It came with Wii sports and sports resort. So my questions are:
1. If the 3 of us want to play how many of the hand consoles/nunchuk do we need? (The sales assistant was useless!) 2. What other games etc could we consider? There are so many out there and I am totally confused.... 3. Is there anything else I need or need to know???? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. My daughter is with my parents at the moment to give her sister and I some time for rest but I want this all set up for when she returns at the beginning of February. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Hi Carolyn.
It depends on the games. There's games where you take turns, and then you are set with one handconsole that you use together with the nunchuck. There's also games (within Wii sports resort aswell) where you play together at the same time (like tabletennis or cow jumping) and for those you will need a hand console for each of you, so 3. I don't know by heart if any of the play together at the same time ones are using the nunchuck, but if they are, you will need 3 of those too. There is 3rd party ones out there that are a lot cheaper and do the job just fine if cost would be an issue. Games that would also be fun, I know that my younger cousins (5, 8 and 12) all really enjoy the game "the Blob". You are a big paint blob creature that picks up color by jumping on it. The whole world is turned grey and you can give it color again by jumping against things when you are a color. Jumping on different colors after eachother mixes them so you can make orange and purple for instance and every color comes with its own music. It's really colorful and fun and you can even make patterns on the buildings. Hope this helps you a bit

1. If three of you want to play together often. I'd suggest having three of the remotes. As said above, you may not need it in every game but some will require it. The nunchuks aren't used as frequently, but you may want to purchase them depending on the time of game you purchase.
2. I'm not an expert on the games. If she enjoys racing, I'd suggest Mario Kart. (It comes with a wheel but the other players do not need a wheel to play.) Also Wii party might be an idea. It's similar to the games that you have in that it has mini games within the game. 3. Can't think of anything else. Hope you all have fun with it! |

just to add my little bit of help, but Super Mario Bros. Is a lot of fun, and Mario Party is easy to play. and you can have up to 4 players for both. I would recommend getting 3 remotes (rechargeable because they eat batteries!)
Also my DH and 4 yr old daughter play Mario Galaxy 2 together. He's the main character, and she's a star and helps him collect coins and star bits. She loves it and so does he! |

I consulted with my girls. They said exactly what the others have said. That if you take turns you only need one set. If your playing against each other you need a remote each. That apart from the bundled games the Mario games are the most fun - Mario Kart and Mario Party in particular.

Just Dance 2 and Epic Mickey are some fav here. We got chargers for the controllers and that has been the best - no more running out for batteries...
we also play a lot of the sports wii games that came with ours, we almost always have a wii bowling or boxing tourney on the weekends. |
