Hugs and prayers. I can't even imagine how terrifying and stressful it must be. Thanks for keeping us updated, I had been worried about all our DD Family when I heard about it on the news.

Thank you everyone. Your kind words and supports means the world to me. Today we are watching the news from Toowoomba overnight in horror. Massive flash flood hit yesterday, 8 confirmed dead thismorning with 72 more unnaccounted for. Absolutely devestating! They are 4 hours from us. I dont know if any of our DD community is there.

Gympie water peaked lower than expected overnight, our water has dropped, but when this new water from Gympie gets to us it will go up again. Still just waiting and watching for us.

Its my brothers 40th birthday today, and on Saturday, when we were evacuating, we were supposed to have a surprise party for him. That couldn't happen! We will try to do something for him so it doesn't go unnoticed. I have a cake I spent two days making for the party, so we will have that. I'll eventually do a page for his cake, its a beauty!

I'll update again

It's all so terrible, Sam - I have cousins in Toowoomba that I haven't been able to get hold of. Dreadful.

Oh Sam, I heard this morning on the telly that Brisbane is under such threat now, regular suburbs in the city, this is craziness. The sight of people spending the night on their roof on the telly, it breaks my heaert.

Sam, I am so happy that you have a birthday to celebrate . . . and a cake! And, I am so sorry that this has hit your homeland and your business so terribly hard. It is hard to imagine how devastation this has been for you. Know that there are many prayers enveloping you while you are struggling.

Update:

Today we got into the top of the building and started to clean. The mud stuck to and in everything was just incredible, the smell awful. There was lots of scrubbing and lots of washing. It was long, hard, backbreaking work, and today was just the first day. We will be back there in the morning to keep going with the bottom floor.

I hope you are able to clean it up OK. I can't imagine what a disgusting job it must be! It has been amazing to watch on the news how so many people are pitching in to help with the clean up. Today my parents and sister in my childhood home town were cut off because of flooding. Everyone was safe but it is strange having this drama so close to home! There is also flooding in the areas surrounding the town where I currently live but it is not nearly as extreme as the floods up north. I wish I could help...!

Doris, I'm all good. The water should be gone from the building today and we will continue to clean. Now there is no water, I'll take my camera and I'll post some pics of the aftermath soon.

Thanks everyone

What a terrible ordeal. I can't begin to imagine the back breaking work required to clean up such a horrendous flood. Glad to hear that you are all safe though.

Sam...have thought of you so often this week. We just got home from holiday last night and now have the chance to volunteer to clean. We know several families through work that were inundated to the roof and have lost almost everything. Rebuilding their lives and possessions is going to take a long time. Hope all goes well for your family too.

How horrible, Sam!! I am happy, though, that even at this terrible time there is going to be family celebrating. So needed at this time! I have dealt with the mess of flood but nothing like this. Only a basement, and that was bad enough. So I can not even imagine what you are facing with water like this.

Please know I will surely keep you, your family and country in my prayers. God be with you as begin to put your lives back together.

Oh Sam, while I am verry happy to hear that you and your family are unhurt and safe together I cannot begin to touch on how tough this must be on all of you, seeing your livelyhoods and community suffer from nature at it's worst.

Some pictures of the aftermath for you. Horrible, smelly mud. Broken, bent smashed stuff. Things where they shouldn't be.

Oh Sam, it's heartbreaking. Country Victoria north of us is now going through the same thing, thankfully not down where I am but we are feeling the after affect of the waters coming down our rivers which are swelling and now towns along the rivers are being affected. Crazy crazy weather at the moment.

So sorry for all the devastation you Aussies have suffered. That mud cleanup must be dreadfully hard, and as you say, the smell... Lots of prayers for you all.
