Default So New year's is approaching

and I have been doing a lot of soul searching and house cleaning (both literally and figuratively)trying to do more of what truly makes me happy. I got rid of my blog, it was such a big time waster, I turned down two invites to be on store CTs, i deleted a ton of supplies I will never use, and I am back on the exercise way of life (I fell off this badly last year). Last year felt so stagnant, full of stops and starts. I felt so out of focus. I am excited about this upcoming year, I have big plans for health, a new home, lots of creative time (with a new computer) ! Do you have any resolutions for 2011?

Resolutions... Easy. Eat less, move more. LOL! (she said sitting in front of her computer with a cookie in her hand - the only thing moving here, is my mouth. Oh, and my fingers.)

Heather, are you a runner/walker? In most cities in Canada, "the Running Room" has a "Resolution Run". This is a 5 or 10 K run, some places New Year's Eve, some New Year's Day. The "resolution" part is the demonstration of your resolve to be active in the coming year. Registration may already be closed in your area, but it is a fun run (I know to non-runners that sounds like an oxymoron) and a great way to end/start the year. Takes so little time, 1/2 hour to a little more than an hour depending on pace and distance and starts early enough that it doesn't generally interfere with other commitments. Susan

Well, I am rehabbing from a huge hip/lower back injury, it might be something I will never recover from. I had to ditch my gym classes, all except for spin, and now I am faced with the difficulty of losing these last twenty pounds, getting my blood glucose down, and all-around being content with who I am. I struggle with contentedness constantly.

I am personally going to take on the 100 Push Ups program, as well as the training for the 50 Pull Ups, though my goal is much more simple, 10 by the end of 2011.

I need to work on personal and home organization, as well as meal planning. I get into ruts and find myself doing the same thing over and over again, whether it's eating out or making the same meals all the time.

I'd love to see what everyone else is going to do! Having my toddler a year older and a little more independent is huge, so I'm looking to reclaim some of my lost energy, too.

Oh, and more scrapping! I want to be **happy** with all the pages I do in 2011.

oh yes i have done it a few times and was even an assistant at the RR for a couple of years. I need to get it all back this year and really start to live with passion instead of going through my life with my eyes closed!

I am with Anxela above - eat less, move more. And not just my fingers.

YES!!! MOVE more, eat less too!!! Get back into running... I slacked last year, but didn't fall too hard off the wagon(meaning I still fit into my pants ok). But I'd LOVE to lose about 5-10lbs!
I would also like to DECLUTTER! I feel as though there will be no more babies, so we can get rid of ALL that stuff! Maybe a garage or yard sale this summer... (I hate doing those...) Now that I'm digital, I'd love to get rid of all the paper supplies I have. I may save some stuff for my girls to play with, but I will get rid of lots of it. My husband sold a few of the scrapbooking gadgets (big huge cutters, and things) on Ebay lately.
I did get my new lens for Christmas and also a clip on flash.... Love them! So now I want to "Get off Auto!" I'd like to take a photography class to learn how to get good at it!
That's it! Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas or Holiday or whatever you celebrate! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers!
Lori

I'm on the "eat less, move more" bandwagon too! Got to get rid of the rest of the pregnancy pounds, plus pick up running again. I'm also going to tackle POTD this year. And I really, really want to be more hospitable. I always want to have more families over, but unless I am really, really intentional about it, it just doesn't happen.

Heather-fun thread!

Sarah-sorry to hear that you were hurt-I really know what it feels like to try to make it back to normal.I sure hope you can get there.

2011 should be a great year, I just have to work on a few things. I am, too, moving more, eating less, but also decluttering because I still plan to move to S Carolina in June, and I do not want to move all this stuff, some of it, but certainly not all of it.

My physical therapist says that I should be able to do the Kommen walk, so that is definitely a goal for me-walking without a limp is a work in progress, heck walking with a limp is a work in progress.

And I am still pondering a word for the year-especially now that I realize how much reality can be in a word for the year!

Love this thread! Mostly, I want to learn how to walk again!

Then, I hope to graduate in May with my M.Div.

Then, I hope to do all the house cleaning that I have post-poned while I have been in grad. school for three years.

And finally-- Organize my digital photo stuff! I just clean-installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini, after my DS installed a new 320G internal hard drive (replacing my old 80G drive!). I was cautioned not to migrate from Time Machine, if I really wanted to keep things clean, so I just spent a day and a half backing up on a separate EHD, reinstalling everything, and finding all my serial numbers and key codes (mostly they were all in the right place). And now, my biggest resolution is to clean up my act by keeping my digital photo files organized (the way Scott Kelby recommends for LR).

I'm loving this thread as well. I so empathize with you guys- three kids in three years has not been kind to me that along with my stress fracture in my foot has not been helpful for getting rid of my post pregnancy weight (btw how long can I blame those kids for anyway?!?) I'm totally using Cathy's Eat Less Move More motto and I am going to use her journal http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...ducts_id/11109 to document it. I joke with my husband. I've got reverse anorexia. I look in the mirror and see the thin person I used to be not the hmm... full figured one that I am today.

Hmm let's see. I'm on a cleaning frenzy as well. Today I totally cleaned my 5 year old closet. I got rid of a ton of old clothes that she had grown out of and reorganized everything so that now she can be part of the organizing process.

Oh and I'm cleaning my email inbox. Apparently one does not need 783 emails to remain sitting on one's computer! who knew?
Here's to a more organized and healthy 2011.

recovering fully from my post-partum depression so I can be happy with myself and loved ones again, regardless wether those pregnancy pounds come off or not.

I really WANT to do the whole move more eat less thing, potd, more creative cooking, more scrapping, more time with friends, but I know I'll most likely not get most of those done so better make "setting realistic goals" for myself my true resolution.

I need to declutter. Always! I have the advantage of a daughter setting up an apartment in the city so I need to make good use of the opportunity! On the scrapping front I also need to declutter. I spent days deleting digital kits I no longer required last month. I deleted about 1/4 which was a step in the right direction. Live more, worry less is my motto!

I try not to make resolutions. I like to instead try to do as many things that I've never done before, trying to have a lot of first time experiences. It doesn't have to be grand.

Other than that I have chosen my word for next year which I am going to stick with - SIMPLIFY. Simplify my life, what I do, stop sweating the small stuff, just simplify. So if anything, that will be my resolution.
