Default Motivation to keep doing what we are doing....

For Christmas, my entire extended family pitched in to have my 80 year-old grandparents slides put on a DVD. As we sat there and watch them, we laughed and laughed and laughed. But this morning, as I look them I'm just bawling.... my grandma is starting to show signs of dementia, and as I look at those pictures and saw her as a new mom, a mom of boys, a grandma, young and fit. wow. But even those those pictures blurry, some were faded, they are treasured now.

So today, more than ever I am encouraged and motivated to keep taking pictures of the daily life.

I feel so very blessed that the orphanage where my mother grew up took so many pictures of their family. I have those photos now and am in the process of putting together a book. Early photos... in the '20's... before the orphanage and with her family... have been scrapped and that is my gift to my mother for Christmas... don't tell her When it's completed, I'll make copies for all the grandchildren. It's a Christmas gift to me as well.

yes being a scrapbooker is sometimes said with mockery except when someone dies, then they are so happy someone took the time to document the little moments.

Oh yes, the every day, the norm, everything, all are memories that we will all hold dear. Thanks for the reminder.

What a great idea, and thanks for the reminder, it is the everyday that is so special to look back on.

Such a wonderful reminder. I had the same experience putting together books for my grandparents and parents. Even the blurry photos with bad lighting brought memories and smiles

I had a film of photos of my Father's life from they day he left home at 16 to go to college (1936) till just before he dies in NOvember. We played it at the funeral home and it turned the experience into one of celebration and quiet joy. Photos really take you there.

My Mum had our old 8 mm movies transferred to video tape in the late 80's. The day after my dad died, we all met at my brother's house to divy up the things which had to be done. We popped in the tape, laughed, cried and remembered. It was what he would have wanted, for us to remember the good times.

Such a great reminder to treasure those everyday moments & save those photos that we may cringe at because of a roll or a bad hair day. Those are the ones that will be treasured in years to come.

You just gave me the push to scrapbook more of the imperfect photos and moments. Thank you.

Yes, thanks for the reminder. My mom had all our home movies put on DVDs. So much fun to look back on my family from the time I was a toddler through high school.
