Default A Little Christmas Magic

Just a little story that made me happy today :-)

I run a Christmas program at work every year where we adopt needy families and buy gifts for them.. sadly all the families we have this year are homeless and living in a shelter and they all asked for practical things like warm clothes.. any way some of the guys I work with are single and have no idea what to get so they pick a tag and give it to me and say 'spend whatever you need to get this'... so today Kohl's (not sure if everyone's familiar with that chain but they're a department store) was having a midnight madness sale where all the winter stuff is 60% off so to Kohls I went with my list.

Sorry this isn't as little a story as I promised...

I do all the shopping and get on the line and of course everyone behind me is not in a very Christmas mood because they have a crazy lady with an overflowing shopping cart in front of them.. finally it's my turn and I get a college kid who is trying to figure out what he's done wrong that he deserved me.. 10 minutes later he's totaled the bill and it's just shy of $1,000. but with all the sales and some coupons I had it's around $420. so I'm thinking I did pretty good :-) I give him the cash I had and was going to put the balance on my Kohls card when he says 'Oh you have a Kohls card. Did you get a coupon in the mail today?' so I explain that I haven't been home so I don't have a coupon and he says thats OK I can give you one.. you can get 15%, 20% or 30% off but to tell you the truth I've never seen a 30% coupon but even 15% is a lot on this order. So he gives me a scratch off and I start searching for a coin and he says here I'll do that for you.. next thing he says is 'Holy C&^p' you got 30%. So while he was packing up my purchases I explained that all the stuff was for the Christmas program and I must have had a Christmas Angel watching over me and he said 'Yeah now that's a little Christmas Magic isn't it" :-) and so because of that I now have money to go buy the little ones a toy which makes me very happy because children should have a toy for Christmas!

and yes Doris I will scrap this as soon as I finish all the wrapping but thought I'd share in case it brightened someone elses day too

That is awesome, I love Kohls and I have, once, gotten a 30% off scratch-off. What a fun, sweet story. I hope they all love the things they get, and the toys, too. You're right, children should all get a toy for Christmas. I was reading today about how rare oranges used to be, that kids would get them in their stocking with some chocolate and that would be an extravagant Christmas.

It's stories like this that remind us how blessed we all are to have what we have, and to have so much that we have extra to give away.

Thats a wonderful story Donna. What a great clerk for mentioning the coupon to you, so many would not. It really shows wonderful christmas spirit, and how fantastic that you could buy toys for the kids too, because I agree that every child deserves a toy for christmas.

Love this real Christmas story.
You should send it to Kohl's. The customer service people would love to hear it.
Magic for the needy families.
Thanks for what you do.

That is a great idea, Donna. You should send them a copy of your scrapped page when it's done.

Donna . . . this is a wonderful story . . . and I think that you may be a Christmas angel yourself. The young man probably is telling your story around to his friends too . . . there will be untold numbers of people who are gaining some Christmas Magic just because of the program at your office, because of you and this young man. Thank you for sharing! And, Merry Christmas to you.
