9 year old girl looking for a pen pal

Ladies, just wondering if any of you have a daughter (or son) around say 9 years old that would like a pen pal.

My best friend's daughter would love to write to someone overseas. Well here's the request from my bestie:

Hi Carol,

At school Eliza has been talking about pen pals. So she has decided she wants one. And of course being internet savvy she took it upon herself to start searching for pen pal web sites. Needless to say I tried to explain about some people doing the wrong thing by children and trying to trick them etc etc !!! One of the first sites she found had adds for 'sexy Japanese girls' !!! Need I say more.

Any way I said that Aunty Carol has lots of friends in America and might know someone with a girl (or boy) about her age (9) and maybe you would see if they would be a pen pal. Of course it is better if they have email as 'mummy snail mail is just sooooo slow' !!!!

Anyway if you do know of someone who might be interested maybe you could sus it out. Who knows how long the interest would keep up but then again sometimes lifelong friendships can be made. And it just seems safer if there is a connection to someone who can vouch for them, if you know what I mean.

So if any of you have a daughter (or son) who is around 9 years old and as Eliza told me tonight, if they love horses then even better! could you pm me and I'll pass on the details. Will be eternally grateful as she's such a lovely young girl, and this of course will make me "super Aunty Carol with worldwide connections!!!" (hero status in her eyes) LOL

Just popped in and saw your post. My ds is 10 (soon to be 11) and LOVES to ride. He worked at a ranch this summer and just adores horses. And he would love to learn more about life in Australia. If Eliza would be interested in e-mailing him, you can pass along my e-mail address to your friend.

BTW, sorry, sorry, SORRY!! I KNOW I owe you an e-mail (or ten)! Homeschool has really been eating up my time, but things seem to be settling out. I'll try to send off something this weekend. (The operative word being "try". ;-)

I have an 8 year old son - who loves having pen pals. This is something we do together during homeschool. This sweet girl may be getting more than she bargained for. I always loved pen pals when I was a kid!
