Talking Bekah gets to go to hospital in Phoenix!

This is great news for the whole family and even if it does mean going to Tucson 2 days a week, it means that FIVE days of the week are closer to home which is Mesa! WooHOO! Maureen
~~~
t looks like Bekah is going to get to go to PCH! Thank-you Lord (and you for all your prayers)! They got it worked out. We don't know when we are going to transfer, but hopefully next week or after.
The plan is to go to PCH, be admitted for a week or two, then do out patient dialysis 3 days a week in Phoenix and come back to Tucson 2 days a week. It will be a full time job, but we will get to be together as a family again!!!! (That's me grinning from ear to ear... and thinking about those cartwheels.)
Bekah's Adeno PCR came back yesterday at 400, so we have to start cidofovir again. One good thing that sort of happened randomly was I read about a new oral Cidofovir on another CB site and told Dr. Graham about it. It is fairly new and he made some calls (again...going above and beyond!) and we got a compassion permission to be included in the trial. He just has to document everything. It is the same thing as the IV Cidofovir except is is oral. The difference is that this new form is supposed to be less harmful to the kidneys but it will still suppress her stem cells- which means lots more transfusions until we can get past this virus and her bone marrow can build up again. We are just hoping it doesn't wipe out the bone marrow in the process since it is only 10% full.
Thank-you Kate (meaghan's mom) for sending me that information while you yourself are going through a horrible nightmare. CaringBridge / meaghanrath / Welcome
Thank-you also everyone for you continued prayers. Also, Bekah has gotten so much happy mail while in the hospital!!! Even when we leave, the nurses save it for us for when we check back after the weekend. I keep wanting to take a picture, but she hurries and opens the mail and I am not fast enough to get my camera out to catch the happiness it brings her. Thank-you!
Anything to make it a little bit easier and happier for this sweet family is welcome news, indeed. Again, I am reminded to get down on my knees to count my blessings when I hear about Bekah and other suffering children and to pray for Bekah and her family and Meghan, too. Thanks for the continual updates, Maureen. We need to continue our prayer vigil for Bekah.
Maureen, this makes me so happy! The more time Bekah's family can be together, the better for everyone. What a wonderful doctor to commit his time and energy taking part in the trial. I honestly do include Bekah in my prayers daily and will continue to do so.
Well it hasn't happened...yet..i.e. making the more or less main move to Phoenix/Mesa. Bekah did have a nice visit from a pony via the hospital pet therapy and there is a tiny photo on Caring Bridge. Hope they will all be home tonight. Maureen
She is doing great! I am starting to see her personality finally come out a little here and there. Sometimes, tears, sometimes laughter. Laughter being my favorite.
Things are still pretty much the same. We are hoping for one day off (Sat Evening) and then return back here on Monday morning. We have to stay longer for labs work for the new med she started today. We are hoping she transfers to Phoenix sometime this next week.
lots of love and have a great weekend! God Bless~Sharlah
