Default Volcanic eruptions marooned anyone?

Well, here in Europe we are in lock-down! I'm back at work tomorrow but many of my colleagues are marooned - South Africa, Germany, France, Spain to name a few...my boss is stuck in Tenerife (that could be a good thing but don't let him know I said that...) I've even got visions of students staying at home and pretending that they are abandoned abroad!

Sara, my daughter was supposed to be in Tunisia on holiday but that has been cancelled till the end of May, they were lucky that the travel company allwed them to change dates. All over the UK there is going to be a shortage of staff as thousands of people are stuck in Airports abroad desperate to get home!!!

Anyone else marooned because of that BIG cloud of ash??
I'm telling you - that other volcano better not erupt in Iceland and stop me coming stateside in the summer - or there will be trouble LOL!!!

My neighbors daughter is stuck in Spain. She's been studying right outside of London and her and a few friends decided to go to Spain.. they haven't been able to get back so my neighbor is a little bit concerned.. Nothing like having your young daughter trapsing all over Europe while you're hear in the states

My mother may end up stuck in the UK. She is supposed to be flying out of Manchester back to New Zealand this week, so we have our fingers crossed.

A friend of mine from high school, an Army chaplain, just finished up his third tour in Iraq. He mobilized to wherever they were supposed to fly out of and had to sit still for almost three days. Everything packed, not a thing to do. Hurry up and wait. I heard he made a flight out today and is supposed to be back in Texas in two hours.

Is Deb still in Italy, and there was someone else also going after us? We were so fortunate to get back when we did.

My sister and brother-in-law are stuck in London! They were there for a wonderful vacation which has apparently been extended by the volcano! I just received an email from her saying that they have managed to get reservations on a Thursday flight. Hopefully the skies will clear by then.

My husband is stuck in the UK also. He has a flight out from Rome on Thursday.
It has been very frustrating to keep seeing e-mails pop up on my e-mail about what he is doing and then to see them cancelled. I hope this works out as I am due to go to Seattle on Sunday and would like to see him before I go!

I'm visiting San Francisco this weekend with Myra and everywhere we go we are meeting people who can't get home. I've been just stunned by the number of people impacted.

I hope everyone is able to get home safely very soon!

Luckily not so far, but a collegaue of mine had a brother stuck in Bruxelles and his wife in London, and they have a "holy communion" the coming weekend and kids all alone at home. Luckily with the help of bus and boat they have made it back home.

I am going to Finland tomorrow supposedly for work with return the next day for a new product presentation, but we are now getting to it that there will be no trip. The airports are now opened for inland traffic, but no outgoing. There are planes coming from the US this morning that is landing here in Norway instead of Copenhagen as it is still closed, and I heard that 6 planes arrived from Iceland with about 1000 people yesterday that is now ashore so they can go to other places in Europe and not only "stuck" out in the ocean.

My neighbors are stuck in Tahiti! Not yet sure when they'll be able to fly out. Hard to feel sorry for them...

I'm most concerned about my shipment from Adagio Teas not being able to cross the ocean as fast as it should.

Joking aside.. It's a terrible situation when it comes to flights that are necessary, such as ambulance flights. Apart from that, I actually think it's a good thing that people are taking the train instead. (As a former employee of the Norwegian Railways, I'm allowed to say that, right?)

I have friends stuck in Paris trying to get out. Sounds wonderful but they are both sick with the flu.

My sister and her husband are still stuck in Orlando and won't get out until this coming weekend. They'll have been there 10 days longer than they anticipated.

My SIL and BIL are "Von Trapped" (get it?) in Vienna. Last message said they were confirmed for a flight on Thursday however that could change. A lovely spot to be stranded however their Euros are running out as they'd been there for 10 days before their initial flight cancellation. Will have to live on chestnuts from the street vendors.

Info on my blog... YUMMERS!.

Well, we are far away from the ashes here in the Middle East. But as for my family in Norway... well, my niece (age 19) is happily stuck in London, the extra stay being paid for by the airline - she's not complaining yet!

My cousins are stuck in Singapore. They are en route from Australia to London, travelling with a 6 month old baby. They are being moved to Malaysia today because their hotel is fully booked. It has been really difficult for them, only had their hand luggage for 4 days!

all over the radio all the time.. so crazy the knock on effect its having...
like dog kennels being over booked because the dogs that should of now gone home with their owners... are still there. Like teachers being away still from school. People stuck on vacation with no or very little medical supplies left. The poor soldiers just finished six months in horrendous Afghanistan now stuck unable to get further than spain. lots of fruit becoming out of stock - the fruit with the air miles kind of fruit!.... its a very weird 'trapped' feeling. and the noticeable lack of planes in the sky is crazy!

I made it back! Thanks for thinking of me! We flew home from Rome via London just a couple of days before... whew! Although, I kinda wish we would've been "stuck" in England... I could've stayed w/Mel all week! LOL
