Default Howdy from central Florida

this place is nothing like i imagined. there are cowboys and cattle all over the place, the topography is very Texas-like...and i just ate dinner at a BBQ place called "Cowboys." all kind of posters about local rodeos and the Day of the American Cowboy. who knew? obviously not ME!

Central Florida is a place all its own . . . no real scenery, kind of dusty, flat, boring. Hope the restaurant was good! We stayed in Jupiter once a long time ago, and were shocked because we thought all of Florida looked like Ft. Lauderdale.

Pick up one of Carl Hiaasen's books while you're there... he has the most fun mysteries... corruption and environmental intrigue and FILLED with quirky Florida characters!

Amazing, isn't it? We stayed at Kissimmee (sp?) once and there are different sections there that were completely different.... I hope you are having a great time down there, did you drive????? Heehee, couldn't resist. Are you going to make it to Gatorland? I thought that place was pretty cool! Enjoy yourself!

Hi, Phylis! Hope you are having a great time, and I am looking forward to your future layouts. They will undoubtedly capture the wry humor and wit with which you see these things.

We stayed in Ocala for a week with cousins in their Lake Wier summer house in 1970. I guess that is considered central Florida, isn't it? We had a wonderful time and have great memories of it . . . that was my very first trip to Florida!

Hope you have a great time while there.

Actually the Deseret Ranch in Central Florida is one of the largest ranches in the US. It is owned by the Morman Church and consists of 290,000 acres or 450 sq miles. They run 44,000 head of cattle. Sorry...probably TMI!!!

Yikes! I've always pictured Florida as lush and green and tropical.
