Default Time is changing . .

tonight : (

it takes us at least two weeks to get madison back on schedule. I do like it staying lighter later, but what a pain in the butt.

can you imagine if you owned a clock/watch store?

I HATE the time change -- just pick one or the other and stick with it, I say.

What states don't do DST? Indiana and Arizona?

My husband says DST is like taking a pancake from the bottom of your stack, putting it on the top, and thinking you have more pancakes.

It really hits my kids hard, too. Especially trying to deal with grumpy kids during church. Schedules just get messed up.

So far it's 100% in favor of picking one time or the other and sticking with it. Love the pancake illustration.

I agree wtih you, to me it's just dumb, but there must be a reason it's being done....? Are they actually saving money?

Well it does throw everything off schedule but I always think of it as another sign of spring :-) I believe the idea behind it is to not have kids waiting for school buses in the dark during the winter.

I normally don't get around the jumping into these, but I have to weigh in on the side of daylight savings. I LOVE IT. I anticipate it the way I look forward to a holiday. Guess I am lucky that I don't physically notice the difference and while the kids are grown I don't remember it being painful. Any amount of angst would be payback for evening sunshine. Change is good!

Daylight Saving Time - Saving Time, Saving Energy

It's one of those things the government got involved in, and now, of course, won't get out of.

I am not a fan of daylight savings. It is going to be a week of grumpy kids and tired parents. But - it does mean that warm weather is coming sooo...

I love Sarah's Pancake analogy... what a hoot! Made me chuckle aloud! We have a week of warm weather (high of 57 degrees this week) beginning slowly today. I hope for sunshine to dry up the mud so my new dog can keep his feet somewhat clean.

Of course, that explains it!

(ETA: Just skimmed the article, and it seems they are working AWFULLY HARD to make the case that it actually saves money.)

I love DST! I cherish that extra hour of light at the end of the day. Love it.

I don't understand how it saves money, because for the other six months in the year, we've put the dark on the other side; the day is still 24 hours, and we still have our routines. So when we fall back, it's getting dark at 5:00 p.m. but I'm still staying up 'till midnight with all the lights on. When people were widely agricultural, it made more sense because they would only work from sunup to sundown, and then eat and go to bed. But in the 24-hour world today, I don't see how it makes much difference.

But I do enjoy coming out of church at 7:00 p.m. and being able to let the kids run around for a while before it gets dark. We've all been sluggish and unproductive today, for sure.

I'm with you, Sarah. Your husband's pancake analogy was perfect. I've been a slug today, too.

I always feel like I've been cheated out of an hour of my weekend. All day long I look at the clock and say, "It should only be 2 o'clock (or whatever)" and then I feel cheated all over again.
