Default I am a BAD mom!!!

I so excitedly got the Fed Ex delivery yesterday afternoon from Blurb. I rip open the package to see the the books of my children's scrap pages I completed in the past year. One book of my son and one book of my daughter. First thing my daughter says to me, I SPELLED HER NAME WRONG on the cover of the book!!!!

Do I get out a marker and add an E to end of her middle name ANN (supposed to be Anne) or do I re-order the book and think that is what is costing me not to have someone else double check my work.

Is this a forgivable crime for a mom who demanded that the E be in her middle name to begin with when we filled out the birth certificate???

Is this your first digital book? I ask because I have a million typos in my books. They look good when I type them, I think I proofread them, then inevitably, something is wrong. And with me, it's never something simple. It's always something embarrassing, like changing the whole meaning of a sentence.

That's the one huge drawback of printing bound books. Were it a regular scrapbook, you could just re-print that page! You'll need to decide. If it were my book, I would probably laugh about it and hold onto it for a while. If you have extra money down the road (and maybe find more mistakes!), you can re-print it. I printed one of my December Daily books twice (once with a new company and I very displeased with the product, but DD wanted to keep it). I gave the bad one to my daughter and re-printed it for me.

So, it's all up to you!

By the way, I am a semi-professional proofreader, I'd always be glad to look at pages whenever someone needed me to. I'm not perfect, either, but I'm cheap---100% off retail price.

This is not my first book, nor my first mistake. It is just that the letters are an inch tall on the cover and it is glaringly obvious. Especially given the mistake. My hubby didn't care how her name was spelled on the birth certificate. I am the one who wanted it A-N-N-E! I think that is the part that bugs me the most. My DD just laughs at me....

Marker sounds good... I would ,however, go in and correct it both on your copy and the Shutterfly copy.. at some point in the future you may decide to reprint it for any nr of reasons and then you won't have the same problem :-) and no you're not a terrible mother.. just a busy one

Now this sounds like a layout in the making. So you forgot the E you fought for. . . You daughter will treasure a layout about that- and about the fact that you are human.

Not a bad mother- just one that types (LOL I had serious typos just typing "types")

You know, I wish my mother could have remembered my middle name. I ultimately ordered a new copy of my birth certificate to find out what my legal middle name was. My parents changed it from Sue to Suzanne (back then the Missouri vital stats crossed it out and typed over it) When I went to get my driver's license in the state of TX I was told it invalidated my entire birth certificate and almost did not get a license. Crushing at 16. So, until last year I did not legally exist in the state of Texas. Then, last Feb/March I was looking at my baby book with my nephew. . . my mother wrote "susan". It was so bad that when our good friends gave my "niece" the name Amy Lynn and then asked what my middle name was all I could say was "I don't know". Thus, I ordered the birth certificate that's now computerized- in case you're wondering- Suzanne.

i say find a cute sticker alpha or print a favorite digi alpha letter E on sticker paper. It might turn out looking like you did it on purpose to highlight the E (and as a person with Anne for a middle name as well, I must admit, I have done my share of fighting for that E at the end)

Oh, No! How about a sticker? Or redo on printer, print in cardstock and cover it up like an old-fashioned paper scrapbook cover.

I can soooo sympathize. I now employ 10-year-old daughter who is a spelling/grammer genius to proof everything before printing! Maybe you'll have to hire your daughter too!

OH, my! If spelling her middle name wrong is the only thing you regret as a Mom, you are home free!
I agree with the sticker advice...because if you're like me, you'll find several more mistakes! Better to wait.
And P.S. - It sounds to me like you are a wonderful Mom!!

I always find several mistakes throughout my books and it makes me mad, because I think I spend so much time reading through the journaling and then DD comes along and points them all out to me. Next time I'll have her proofread everything beforehand. AS to the title, I wouldn't worry about it this time, sticker sounds great!

I'd go for a sticker. I know how you're feeling, though. I did a book for my son-in-law and when I got it there was a glaring typo, so I re-ordered it and have the one with the typo tucked away on my own bookshelf. Geez. So his Christmas gift cost twice as much as I had planned.

You might be able to do something a bit hybrid to disguise the additional sticker, like some ribbon or buttons or metal picture frame embellishment.

Thanks for all your support. My DD is still laughing at my. I might have to find a brad with the letter E and add it. Then it won't be as likely to come off later. Thanks for the ideas and support!
