Default East coasters are you ready

Apparently we have another storm moving in starting tomorrow, they are calling for close 2 ft here, plus wind. I sure hope it misses us, we just got over 3+ ft this weekend....... I really hate winter.

My parents still have their 30 inches on the sidewalk! You got more than they did, Connie. It's been a tough winter out there, that's for sure. My dad is glad it's more snow tomorrow, though, instead of rain, because if it rained, they would have a lot of roofs in danger of collapsing. As it is, he's going to have to find someone who can come blow the snow off their roof.

I think you guys stole all our snow... we haven't had a big storm since October. I thought for sure we were going to get one more blizzard before spring. Apparently Mother nature sent it to the East Coast =)

No.

I've just got the driveway section to the street done, a plow came by about 30min ago and he gave me a bit more turnability but ... we still have 3'+ on the street near the curbs with piles closer to 5' where we've had to pile the driveway snow. Dick flew to OK this am (SUV pick up from friend) and I've taken a cab to the dr's this am for my annual checkup. Another cab tomorrow 07:30 for a mammogram. Then I'm stayin' in.

So, no I'm not ready for more. I'll wait till spring and/or Dick gets back on Thurs, godwillin'. It appears I'll be shoveling alone on Weds. This is SUCH a change from our usual winter but my arms and back are sure getting a workout!

Strange that belt of snow across the middle. We didn't get it in Maine this weekend and hope to miss is again on Wednesday since the man is flying south. Sure is intense this year.

I have side street parking. We have been digging for 3 days. We would make head way and then the plow would come by. I finally got my car out this afternoon and now 10 to15 more inches likely, 20 inches possible. We have no where else to put all this snow. Oh and did I mention how sore I am from shoveling.

Oh no Katie! Next Monday too. I hope not. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to worry about my son and daughter getting to work and of course the side street parking. I can work from home. But it is starting to worry me a bit though because of what all this snow could be doing to my little old 40 year old townhome. I was able to get to my backyard down spout ..tomorrow I will need to get to my front down spout to remove some of the snow and ice. Thank goodness I haven't lost power or cable service.

The plow finally came down our street, but left a large area in front of the driveway. I had a good workout yesterday shoveling the snow, and Howard finished it off today so I can get out for tomorrows CT scan. I wouldn't mind postponing it but with my Dr. appointment next week things would be so messed up. Now I know why all the folks my age are in Florida!

Angela, good luck to your shoveling and keeping the ice away from you. My daughter's car keeps getting plowed in too - what a pain for you guys!

If we get the wind with this, well , the last time we got hammered like this we had 30ft drifts in the road. I'm so not looking forward to it.
Oh by the way, they had school here today, only a 2 hr delay and most likely the only county in Maryland to go. We have the best roads department in MD. I quess that is one advantage to living in the mountains.

Stay safe, ladies. And scrap, scrap, scrap. Drink lots of tea. Watch good movies.
The rest of us will keep our fingers crossed that the next one fizzles out.

This reminds me of a storm that went through the D.C. area in my childhood. All the neighbors got together and dug out to the main road. I remember the piles of snow being higher than my father. My DH is in DC for a sales meeting. I sure hope he can get home on Thursday.

We had a ton of snow last year. The entire city of Vancouver was under so much snow that the city was shut down...for 2 weeks. No snow plows went through our streets because, well, we have no snow plows. Car accidents galore. It was so bad, this year we actually bought snow tires and put them on our car early.
This year no snow. We are in fact trucking in snow from over 2 hours away for the Olympics. The 'winter' Olympics!
Hang in there ladies. I feel your pain.

I am so not looking forward to it! The road get so bad around here, our city doesn't have the money to put down a lot of salt and cinder, so we suffer. The plow shoves everything to the sides and then there is no room for two cars to pass each other on the smaller streets. I am sick of winter!

My DD and I made it to work this morning. The roads to get here weren't too bad. The interstate that we take to get here had all lanes operating most of the way and traffic wasn't too bad, but my guess is most people will leave early and we will get traffic going home. Since we road together we can take HOV. Once we get home we will take my son to work so he can get a few hours in before it gets bad tonight. I'm pretty sure tomorrow we won't be able to get to work at all. We will be taking turns through the night and day tomorrow shoveling snow and hopefully it won't take us 3 days to dig out this time.

You would think I could catch up on some scrapping but that hasn't really happened. By the time you go out there and shovel and come in and rest a bit and make something to eat and do something with the wet clothing, I've been to tired and sore to scrap.

I'm with Debbie! Such an odd winter--I have really missed snow here in New England. But I'm happy to say it looks good for us tomorrow!

"anticipation" around here means that everyone is flooding into the grocery stores to stock up, as if the end of the world is approaching! i went grocery shopping this morning and there was NO BREAD left on the shelves of a major supermarket.

I took a cab to get my mammogram this am, and afterwards walked a bit on one of the main roads to get to the nearby Safeway. I didn't need anything really but felt I deserved something for going out. I got a jar of olives, some salsa and some asparagus - risotto anyone? The only thing they were out of was eggs - totally. I plan to bake some bread tomorrow and I was also thinking how much can I carry in two bags with the bit I have to walk after a cab lets me off.

Luck struck and I saw a woman I knew who gave me a ride home, and a chocolate chip cookie.

I hate to say it but as soon as I sat down to write here...snowflakes started to fall. I wonder if Dick will ever get home from Oklahoma!

I stayed home today and started preparing for the worst, I filled buckets and 1/2 barrels with water for the cows and bathroom, brought in extra firewood, took ashes out, and made sure I was caught up on laundry. If the electric goes off, we will still have heat, but no water.

Well-I was snowed in at the hotel in Arlington, VA with 8 kids over the week-end. They were supposed to go to a Leadership conference, but it was cancelled while we were in the air between Las Vegas and DC. They did get to see the inside of the Whitehouse, the Holocaust museum and the Pentagon-but they spent the bulk of their time in the hotel! Luckily, before the trip I booked us to leave during the window of opportunity-otherwise we would probably still be there! And there is rain here-I would much rather have the rain here than the snow that shuts the city down there!!
