what about a fishing type game? Basically a string tied to a pole with a magnet on it. They toss it out to catch things (prizes, treats etc. that have another magnet attached to it)
Toss across, if you have it. (maybe make valentine day beanbags) Bowling. use two liters with a bit of sand for the pins. Can dress up the pins like snowmen if you like. simon says. sharks and minnows. |

I am sitting here making the pieces for the first game in one of my boys' classes. We're dividing the class into 4 groups of 5 or 6 (odd number of kids). I am making four 4x6 cards that I will laminate and cut into six 2" pieces each. Mine are covered with different hearts (one has paper hearts all over it, one has Pattie's felt hearts, one has Katie's candy hearts, etc.), but you could use pictures, or anything you like. Each kid will get a piece and they have to walk around finding the other kids who complete their picture. These will form the groups for the rest of the games.
I hope that made sense! |

How about a relay race - you can have them hold a Valentine to pass to the next person and run around a big teddy bear or something.
Or they could pass red-hot hearts down the line using spoons. Duck Duck Goose could be changed to Heart Heart Cupid or something Valentiney. Simon says could be Cupid says. Limbo and dancing are fun at that age, too. Once I had them build a tower with those heart-shaped marshmallows. The one who got their tower the highest in the amount of time given was the winner. I saw the heart-shaped marshmallows at Walmart the other day. You can give everyone a baggie to put their marshmallows in if you don't want them to eat them. If you are in a gym, you could hang a pinata in one corner and do a Valentine version of Pin the Tail on the donkey in another corner using stickers on a poster. (Something like pin the Valentine on the mailbox?) Splitting the class up for these helps the *wait time*. They can play "button, button, who's got the button" using a candy heart or a small valentine card instead. Face "painting" or "tattoo" booth - you can use a set of Valentine stamps or temporary tattoos. |
