Default Calling all dog lovers...

I know there are many of you on here that dogs are just like your children.

We have a friend that has to put her 16 year old bull dog down tomorrow because of a battle lost with cancer. She is just torn in two.

We have collected many pictures of Hank and I am making a scrapbook page for her that we can frame. I did you Anna's word art but would like to add a little poem about the love of a dog.

I tried searching the internet but couldn't spot one that really hit home. Does anybody have any suggestions. I would appreciate it greatly!!!

I posted this link a while back, maybe you can use some or all of the lyrics. The first time I heard it, I cried.

GoD and DoG by Wendy Francisco

"I look up and I see God.
I look down and see my dog.
Simple spelling, G-o-d;
same word backwards, d-o-g.
They would stay with me all day.
I'm the one who walks away.
But both of them just wait for me,
and dance at my return with glee.
Both love me no matter what,
Divine God, and canine mutt.
I take it hard each time I fail,
but God forgives, dog wags his tail.
God thought up and made the dog,
dog reflects a part of God.
I've seen love from both sides now,
it's everywhere, Amen, bow-wow.
I look up and I see God.
I look down, and see my dog.
And in my human frailty,
I can't match their love for me."

Edited: Now that I read it, it's not a good-bye poem, but sweet nonetheless.

I love the one that Denise quoted and also the Rainbow Bridge poem. I know they were both comforting to me when we lost our Cody recently.
How kind of you, Jen, to make such a wonderful gift. I'm sure they'll cherish it.

I'm so sorry for your friend. It's so hard to lose a beloved pet, especially one that has been with her for so long. I can't seem to find the page I sourced for this a while ago. I'll keep looking, but it had some good ones on it, including Denise's.

I also just did a page for Christmas for my Dad about him and his dog (a Lab). Here are some quotes from the book Marley and Me which talk about dogs and our relationships with them.

"Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things....he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty."

"He taught us the art of unqualified love. How to give it, how to accept it."

I adapted one of these for a page of my own about our dear dog, Mali:
http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...4&ppuser=38130

Hope this is a start. I'll see if I can find the other dog quotes I have somewhere.

my gosh, the very first time I ever read rainbow bridge I was beside myself...
Little quotes or snippets of what friends and neighbours thought of the dog might be nice too. {Okay only if they are kind!}
