Merry Christmas to you all !!
Christmas Eve it is and one such a night I always feel far away from my family. I grew up with the warm smells of food and incense, fire in the fireplace and a freshly cut tree for Christmas.
Now, life brought me together with an Israeli and thus, after having moved to Israel eight years ago, I gave up celebrating Christmas. Hanukkah will, obviously, never *do* the same thing to me. I am perfectly OK with this choice, but yet .... on a Christmas Eve I do feel far away from family, and I smile inside at the thought of Christmases long gone. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you here at DD - for making this such a special and warm place. So many of you I have come *to know* and coming in here a dozen times a day - is my little "free haven" - a place to relax and have fun. And meet friends. I wish you all a blessed, warm and special Christmas - and let us not forget why we celebrate this special holiday. God bless you all.

I remember years ago when I had to spend my first Christmas away from my family in England, how homesick I was. The weather was no help since we were living in Hawaii. I never had the chance to spend Christmas in England again, and even though I have my own family now, my heart still reaches over the seas each December.
