The news from AZ has continued to be up and down with one med added, another taken off etc etc. One issue compounds another benefit but the good news is that Bekah is still alive, has had a day or two at home here and there and 6 months have passed since her original diagnosis. Where there's life, there's hope.
~~~~~~~~~ Hi, Quick note...Bekah is doing so much better! The Dr. pulled her off some meds temporarily and added 2 blood pressure meds. (she has 2 patches on the back, 1 IV and 2 oral) so her blood pressure is in check. He also is weening her off the steroids. So her blood pressure is much much better! yeah! temp went away when they gave her steroids. He said that it was inflammation from GVHD still going on. took cultures, but doesn't think that they will come back positive. good...Thank-you Lord!Dr. still isn't sure we can return for Christmas. I think he is worried after what happened Monday with her blood pressure (It was at 160/112 when she came in yesterday). He said we shall see. Fingers crossed! My childhood friend Izzy , who is a nurse, and her family came and stayed at the RMH last night. I spent yesterday Christmas shopping with her- talk about a rush job to get presents. (That's the only time I am going to be able to do shopping!) Then we came to Tucson. Izzy babysat the kids last night and did ALL her night time meds! (4 IV and 8 oral-all differing times). She couldn't believe all the meds that Bekah gets. That was only night time and not counting morning or midday ones. Lol...I had to become an instant nurse with a BMT child. Rich and I went out and saw a movie and had a quick dinner! Wow... What a treat! I wasn't worried at all about Bekah...I knew she was in good hands! ![]() Thank-you so much for all your prayers and support. I know I keep saying it, but I am so grateful. lots of love~Sharlah
Glad to hear they are finally starting to take away some of Bekah's meds
and that Sharlah was able to have some down time and go enjoy herself for a few hours. Her friend's a Gopd Send. Hoping things continue to improve and they will soon be home for good. Prayers and best wishes to your whole family.
Christmas at home...a major blessing! Thank all of you who have been supportive in so many ways. The world IS a good place. Maureen
~~~~~~~~~~~ Merry Christmas everyone! Our gift from the Lord was Bekah being able to come home for the day! Thank-you! We have to be back first thing Saturday morning, but oh...we are home for the day! We had some wonderful people who stepped in to help make this a less stressful Christmas. I want to thank-you so much! -all different people-all helping us somehow. These small things made it so much less stressful on us so that we could really enjoy this Christmas with our kids. We are so blessed by your ongoing support and prayers. Rich and I look at Bekah and truly feel blessed that she is still alive with us. Even 8 years ago, she would probably not be here with us now if this same thing had happened. The technology advancement is so rapid! (i.e...The new steroids that only treat the gut when the new stem cells attack it after BMT only came out in 2007. This alone lowered the mortality rate from these same viral infections that Bekah has.) We are truly blessed! We hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow- Merry Christmas to all and may the Lord bless you as you have blessed us with your kindness & generousity of love towards us! Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14

Oh how special! It must have made the world of difference for Bekah and her family. It must be so hard to have to spend Christmas in hospital. Thanks for the updates. My thoughts are with you and your family, too.
