I usually buy my cartridges from sams club or walmart. Just thought it might be alot cheaper somewhere else. Its ridiculous to spend $50.00 on on cartridge, but I did notice last month it did go down to $40. Being on a budget, im always looking for a good prices.
I will go check out the Cartridge world too. Thanks

I have a HP8180 that uses Vivera inks. Is that similar to yours? I buy my new cartridges in the combo pack with all 6 cartridges. Occasionally I'll get a bunch of refills from Cartridge World (we even have that in Australia!) - with extra yellow and some other colors that I use more quickly.
I've never had trouble with refills, either. I used to buy my own refill packs and do it myself. The trick with hp is that the cartridges have chips in them that the printer uses to identify the cartridge. You can't take a cartridge out, refill it, and put it back in because the printer remembers it and says it's empty! At Cartridge world they reset the chips for you, but I still never put it straight back in (they'll be able to advise you on that). Occasionally they can't reset the chips so they cartridge has to be thrown away but they don't charge for that.

We have an HP and we have checked around and get them at Office Max. Often there is sales and the new XL size is nice. We return our empty cartridges and get $3.00 for each as credit (check their recycle info on their site). We go through much ink with a home business so I put the credit for the recycled cartridges back into buying the new ink and that sure helps to decrease the cost.
Also check Tigerdirect.com for good sales every now and again. Donna |

I don't recall who suggested it but I know it was a designer..I think Claudine Hellmuth...but I used Carrot Ink for a while. Then I had a disaster with the printer refusing to recognize any type of cartridge. That was a free Epson that came with my old Mac mini I believe. I was using Costco for Canon cartridges until something jammed, and that's when THAT printer flooded my table. I am now on a HP which is doing fine - and it is the last of my free with computer or camera printers.
So basically I'm no help but perhaps my saga is. I don't print a lot at home anymore unless it's small stuff or the odd 8x10.

I tried refilling mine once and it was a disaster. Haven't tried the other sites but I do use Staples and get $3 credit monthly for each cartridge returned. This week they have had a special for double credit and points... need to be a Staples member. They also have free shipping for orders over $50. Costco and Sams have good everyday pricing. I seem to spend a ton on ink. Using HP 8750 wide carriage with 3 cartridges and the HP 6310 with two. Seems to me there is a bit of a profit margin we're dealing with and it's not going to the consumer...

I have always gotten my color ink from CostCo. I use Cartridge World for my b/w laser cartridge and have had no troubles. I have taken my HP color cartrtidge (an old HP 970cxi) to cartridge world and it was terrible... so to make a long story short. I refill my black laser cartridge and by new color cartridges!!

I have an HP printer and buy my ink (and photo paper) online at hp.com. I'm up to 15% off (in addition to any specials they are having) and get free overnight shipping, 2 day business, and regular shipping.

I JUST started refilling my own, I have only done one so far, but no issues w/ it as of yet and my pics look the same. I usually print no larger than a 5 x 7 at home, but man what a savings on ink this will be if it works out. They did sell clear refillable cartidges for my HP printer and I invested in those. The clear cartidges make the process very easy - no drilling, no glue gun, no resetting of a chip. I'm going to try this for my other HP and see how it goes. The cost of ink is outrageous!

I go to Staples with a cartridge to return so that I can get my $3.00 refund.
Yes, ink is worse than gasoline by far. Someone want to figure out how much we pay for a gallon of ink?

can you BELIEVE how expensive those things have gotten, Cheryl? i also have an HP, and the XL color cartridge for my printer is $40 on the HP website. i've gotten some good deals on original HP cartridges through Amazon.com. the last color cartridge I got was through Amazon, from the company BetaInk. It was fast and A LOT cheaper than the office stores or through the HP site. the cartridges i've gotten through Amazon have all been original HP cartridges, just $10-15 cheaper.

This is why I print at Scraping Simply... I figure after I buy a printer that can print 12X12, the paper and the ink it is close to the same... and I save time by just sending them away online! I can alway use extra time!
I think ink is way overpriced!
