So sorry--what a hard, hard journey, with no happy end in sight. They--and you--are in my prayers tonight. God knows; God cares; God is in control.

More prayers coming from here! The constant worry and suffering must be wearing them down, the poor things! I so hope that things will look up really soon!

I'm checking this thread daily as I remember Bekah and keep her and her family in my prayers.

Maureen, I'm sending extra hugs for you tonight. I know you want so badly to be able to change this situation for Bekah.

Maureen, my prayers are still with Bekah and her entire family. What a tough thread to read. I hope things turn around for her quickly.

As hard as it can get, Sharlah has always had a sense of humor and it's good to read it in this post. Just to remind you, Rich, who is Dick's son, is a PhD in math and he usually lives 'out there' mentally! on the other hand he is an Ironman athlete.

from Sharlah....

I just wanted to do a quick update. We just got out of clinic. Today was a very long day and Kate, my friend, came and spent over 4 hours just sitting with me and keeping me company.

Bekah had the scope in through the mouth, stomach and smaller intestine (part anyway). They found normal looking organs, so they took some biops (4 pieces) from her inners and will examine them for GVHD and CMV. Dr. Graham is starting to think it is really looking like GVHD but wants to be absolutely certain before he starts treatment, just in case it causes the CMV to escalate. (He will treat the CMV more aggressively to try to keep it in check with anti viral meds if she does have GVHD. Because the med to stop the GVHD only makes the CMV worse.) Not sure that I have explained that well. ??

She has another CAT scan tomorrow looking for either infection or GVHD. So another day of waiting before it is determined what course of treatment can be done.

Bekah is still very sick. She is very tired with fever and continues to throw up. It is hard to believe she is the same girl that was running around a week ago! We are still very hopeful and have faith she will get past this latest bump.

All her meds (except her high blood pressure meds) were switched over to IV for now. I told Rich he had to learn to help me with them. I think he is panicked. To have to clean, flush and put meds into a direct line into the heart-actually- 3 lines (port and double Hickman) sounds pretty over whelming. I was laughing and said he had to either push me up this mountain or pull me. So his reply is..."How about a 'ra-ra'?" LOL! I told them there will be no meeting me on the other side. Nope...He is going to help with the meds. He will...it can be a little scary at first.... but then you get used to it.

Thank-you for your prayers. lots of love~Sharlah

It's good to hear that Sharlah still has her sense of humor. That and her faith will see her through this ordeal. Praying for all of you.
