Smile Music to Scrap By?

I'm sitting at my dining room table feverishly trying to finish the heritage book I'm making.
My headphones are on to block out the football game that is blaring in the background (not conducive to scrapping for me!).
Patty Griffin is playing, her emotional, plaintive voice and beautiful words spurring me on.
Sometimes I like something a lot peppier but today it's Patty.

What music do you like to scrap by????

Honestly, I usually forget tot turn on music! I am either turning one ear to what the kiddos are doing or, if after their bedtime, I am listening to the quiet. :-)

I think this counts... I'm making stuff to scrap with listening to the Glee cast music!

I really enjoy October Project for crafty time. Also Tracy Chapman - good for singing along and just seems to get the juices going. But lately, I too usually have no music so as to hear if sleeping kiddo calls!

I'm old... I listen to the spa channel on directv... it's calming and keeps Fenway, our Lab, in a coma state too. Good for my soul. Sometimes, however... I put on something with some spice. But usually, I'm in the mood to just chill with something calm and peaceful... mindless...

Believe it or not I have been listening to Christmas music trying to find the right song to go with the photos of the parade yesterday and the choir performance at the grandpeople's church today. AND it put me in a sweet mood of being really grateful for all the wonderful people here at DD and the great expressive ways we have with the digital beauty of our designers. Happy holidays, everybody. Well, I'm happy at this moment, anyway!!

I typically put my iPod on shuffle whenever I scrap. I have a really large music collection, so it is always something interesting.

I LOVE Glee! Great music! Lea Michele has an amazing voice!

The music that I listen to while I scrap, design and paint changes all the time. Every month I make a playlist of my favorite songs (at some point I should make a layout with each month's playlist...), and usually end up listening to that most of the time. Right now some of my favorites are:
~Radiohead - they have such unique sounds, always helps to get the creativity flowing.
~Vitamin String Quartet - they do tribute/cover pieces to everything from cold play to Metallica ... awesome group, although I must say it can be a bit strange to hear a classical music version of some songs
~Death Cab for Cutie, Black Eyed Peas, Muse, and Lady GaGa usually make several appearances on my monthly playlists.

I have also really been into Folk (esp. Bon Iver) and indie rock bands lately. Of course, right now most of the music I am listening to is Christmas music

every year i create a mixed bag of Christmas tunes cd to listen to while i'm doing...whatever!. this year i'm lovin' Straight No Chaser's "This Christmas." also on the cd is Peabo Bryson's "Born on Cristmas Day," Norah Jones' "Peace," Oscar Peterson's understated "Christmas Waltz," Michael Buble's "Grown-Up Christmas List," and (...dare I say it...) Barry Manilow doing his great remake of "It's Just Another New Year's Eve." i have a degree in piano, but i rarely listen to music. i make an exception around Christmas. i do have a tendency to choose music that makers me cry, though, for some reason. this year's no exception!

I'm listen to Bing Crosby singing "I'll be Home for Christmas" on Pandora right now. I had never heard of Pandora radio until this morning when I was reading the "setting up your work space" thread here. "Curiogirl" mentioned it on her post there and I immediately googled it and set up a station. And, now only minutes later I see that Wendy listens to Pandora too!

Thanks Curiogirl & Wendy for a good idea!

I love Pandora, too! They have some great Christmas channels or you can just type in Bing Crosby Christmas and off it will go!
There are some great music suggestions in this thread. Now I'm going to have to check out the ones I haven't heard of!
I'm very eclectic in my musical tastes. The only music I really don't listen to is opera (puts me to sleep), most rap and really hard rock....I get all agitated!
Right now...I'm working on other people's photos and listening to Bruce Springsteen, a favorite of my hubby's and mine.

Oh... I have a great 30's and 40's playlist that I listen to sometimes while scrapping those photos of my parents! Love that era for music.

The 30's and 40's are favorites of mine to listen to also, Kerry! Is your list on Pandora? I have just discovered listening to music on the computer and I love doing so!

I just wrote a blog post about this a couple of weeks ago. I love to have music on, and have the radio on pretty much all day. I could do without a telly, but never without a radio.

I have a few albums I tend to rotate through, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, The Eagles, Gorillaz and David Gray. Then other times I feel like something completely different and find a cheesy compilation CD to listen to.

Right at the moment the Foo Fighters is on LOUD, but that's because I'm also busy decluttering, and find loud music helps me with that. Best get back to it.
