Default German translation please!

Some friends from Germany adopted a baby boy and sent a birth announcement, and while they wrote a nice note in English, I would like to know what the announcement says

"HERZLICHEN DANK FUR DIE GUTEN WUNSCHE UND DIE TOLLEN GESCHENKE ZUR ANKUNFT VON LUCA. WIR HABEN UNS SEHR DARUBER GEFREUT."

Thanks!

Isn't this a great place! To think we have such a diverse group is amazing! I will be hopping back to this thread to see the translation too!

With my rusty German I would translate it to

Thank you much for the best wishes and the wonderful gifts we got at the arrival of Luce. We have enjoyed them very much.

Some times the Google translator gives so funny translations as it doesn't have the logic sense for translations as humans.

Thank you Blossom for the most likely translation! However, I have to say I really enjoyed Randy's Google translation!

When I took foreign language classes in school we were always having to think "backwards" like that. I like how it sounds, too. :O)

Oh we used to play in an online translator, we'd go English to a language and then that language back to English, it would always make us giggle, a bit like Chinese whispers game.

Carol, that wind up like the game Telephone I played when I was a kid. Is that what Chinese Whispers is? When Babelfish went live many years ago, I used to spend hours entering nonsense phrases in one language and doing that very thing.
