Well, I have a friend who just had her 5th son. (She has 5 kids, all boys. They're a farming family.) She was watching me with my Jake and I asked her how in the world she does it. She looked at Jake and said, "Well, I've never had one quite like that."
They are a blast, I love having a boy. There's never a dull, boring moment!

Kerry, you are so funny (and so pretty in your new avatar!). My life with boys has definitely been a blur on many occasions. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!

LOL, that's for sure. we have friends with 2 girls the same age as our 2 boys. we went for a picnic together once. dh and i stared at the girls, sitting quietly at the table coloring for near and hour. our friends watched our boys speeding around. the husband turned to us and said "i've never seen anyone move that much in my life". quite the difference!

Well, I do think having a boy would be fun. Of course, girls are a blast because they like to shop with me and we can stay up all night chatting about everything.
I always wonder what a boy of ours would look like and what personality he would have had! On the other hand, I worry about feeding one! Man, they consume a whole lot more than the girls. |

Moms of boys do it by spacing them.
My two are 4 years apart, not that I knew the 2nd would be a boy! Mine were raised in England so there was less boisterousness than I see here now. Different times. The big kicker is the appetite they suddenly acquire, where a box of cereal is one serving, a gallon of milk is a couple of gulps etc etc It was my ability to store enough milk for my two teenage boys. There went the fridge space!

my youngest is a boy and HOly Moly is right, that kid never stops, neither does his mouth!
He is adorable, but boys are definitely from a different planet

I never believed it myself when people told me how boys had so much energy. One of my friends even said that her girl was 'like a boy' because she was always active. Then I had my own boy...oh my word there is SUCH a difference. He. Never. Sits. Still. Ever.
But i kinda love it! It also makes me appreciate my girl a little bit more!

I have two sons and 3 grandboys and indeed boys are different than girls! My son in CA boy's are 18 months apart and when I kept them for a full day recently I was totally exhausted! They are much fun! Hope you get a GS someday, Kerry! Love the new avatar!

Boys definately are Different. I only have on DS, but I do claim DH as a close second, then there is Uncle Tim, so I am constantly surrounded by boys.
My daycare provider shared this observation, I'll take a 9 boys for a day any day, add just one girl to the mix and the challenge really begins. The difference with boys is that although it's loud and fast paced, they play well together, any differences are quickly addressed and they are on to the next thing. Adding a girl to the mix totally throws off the balance. Girls tend to be more dramatic with issues and constantly stir the pot.

So very true - guys invest their energy in activeness, girls in emotions - toss up on any given day which is the most draining, but definitely taking photos of 3 boys must have been a challenge!

Ha ha! The girls are the queen of hormones, that's for sure! But they do still sit on my lap every so often, so that makes up for it... Funny, but I grew up with two sisters and have the three girls now, so not that much experience with boys other than my dad, who was very calm, and my hubby, who even at the age of 51 can't sit still for more than 2 seconds! I think someone knew I'd have enough trouble managing him and decided to dole out the girlies to me

LOL on the hormones thing. I'm here to tell you though that boys can be just as moody. The times that I recall saying out loud, "God knew what he was doing when he gave me boys" was when I heard little girls squealing at the top of their lungs in a very high pitch non-stop. My boys were born with low voices. :O)

Had 2 of each myself - and I'll agree with Kelly about the moody boys - read once that teenage boys' frontal lobes practically shut down during adolesence - explains the neanderthal grunting I suppose! Can't say much about the girls - Claire is Claire (a one off, I think), and Bonnie was always sweet tempered.
Another thing about boys - since they both left home we go through so much less toilet tissue !!!Hats off to you Kerry for photographing a bunch of kids of any gender though - tricky job always! |

A big double amen on that. My boys are 14 and we go through a gallon of milk/day. And all this time I thought I was saving for college! I should buy a cow.

Great thread!!
I remember reading Erma Bombeck years ago on the difference between boys and girls. Of course, I can't put this into words as funny as hers, but she thought boys were easier. If you hear a terrible noise coming from upstairs, and yell, "What's going on up there?" the boys will say, "Dave just threw all his Tonka trucks down the laundry chute. It was great!" If the girls are up there and you yell, "What's going on up there?", all you'll get is "Nothing." |
