Default Post Transplant for Bekah - 1 month later

Dick and his daughter have flown to CA to meet up with the son who lives there. The whole lot will drive to AZ to see the Mesa family incl Bekah of course.

Some sad news in this post...Deziray is one who didn't make it. :-( It's such a reminder of how precious each day of life is for all of us. Maureen
~~~~~~~~~~~
Bekah and mommy at RMH having a tea party with Grandma Sue (who took the picture).
Bekah is doing well.* Lots of energy.* Hard to believe she has been through so much.* The Lord has truly blessed us.* I try not to think about what could happen, but with the loss of Deziray, it is very much there.* (Stephanie is doing ok, but she is just trying to hold it together while they make Deziray's arrangements. I know she is so appreciative of your support & prayers during this dark time.)
We have been asked many times if we can go home now that Bekah had her transplant and is doing well.* No.* I wish.* We have to stay here for another couple of months.* There are several reasons, but the most important one is to make sure complications don't arise and GVHD (Graft v. Host Disease) doesn't take place.* (Where the new stem cells start attacking Bekahs body.) Post 3 months is the critical period.*** Also, Bekah still isn't making her own blood yet.* It will take a few more months to get the new* stem cells working to begin to make red cells and platelets.* Until those stem cells are fully functioning, she continues to need transfusions- about every other day now.
So we go to clinic every day, but we get to sleep at the RMH at night!* Yeah!* Please continue to pray for her health and healing. I place my trust and faith into the lord.*
I'm sorry to hear about Deziray, but that picture of Bekah and her mother is so welcome. I'm glad they're able to be away from the hospital for at least part of the day. My prayer is that Bekah continues to make good progress so she and mom can be back in their own home.
So gratifying to see this photo of a smiling Bekah with her mom. The resilience of young children can be so amazing. Thank you, Maureen.
Prayers will continue from here for continued good results for Bekah and I'll be saying a prayer for Deziray's family as they face this great loss in their lives.
Oh, Maureen, I am so sorry for Deziray's family. I know they were hoping for a miracle, and I pray they find comfort in this very difficult time. My prayers are with them.
That photo of Bekah and Sharlah is just such a delight to behold! Praying for continued progress in engrafting of the new stem cells, and a long, glorious life for Bekah! Thank you for keeping us up-to-date, Maureen. Give her and Sharlah big cyber-hugs from me!
Maureen, I am so saddened by the loss of Deziray. I am praying for her family as they face this heart wrenching loss. It surely brings home the true message of how precious everyday should be to each of us.
Continuing prayers for Bekah and all of you. God is good and I thank Him for all he has done and is doing for Bekah. You are moving day by day towards His complete healing for Bekah. You are a blessing to all of us with your witness to His power and grace. Thank you.
Thanks for the updates Maureen. It's such a joy to see the smiles on both of their faces. We have so much to be grateful for. Positive thoughts to them and prayers of comfort to Deziray's family.
Thanks for the update... Bekah (and the whole family!) will remain in my prayers. And, I'm very saddened, as we all are, to hear of Deziray's passing... may her family find strength and comfort. More prayers for them...
Thanks all. I should be hearing from Dick probably tomorrow, and he is tasked with taking some pictures! They (Dick, daughter and son from CA) should be in Mesa today and going down to Tucson tomorrow. They may or may not take Michael out of school so he can have another visit, and also give Rich a break. As a professor, his nights are pretty busy with planning/homework etc. (Not the story they gave us girls in hs about the easy life a teacher had!)
