both kids got sick last weekend with the flu - they're assuming it's H1N1. high fevers for a few days, a little coughing, but otherwise (thankfully) in good moods. Matthew was well enough to go back to school on Tuesday.
on Wednesday he woke up with a fever again, as well as severe coughing, so i took him in to the docs. he'd developed pneumonia. so he's on antibiotics. Jeremy started it all about 2 days after Matthew. and today he needed to go back into the docs because his coughing had escalated. they decided that he didn't have pneumonia yet, but was "on the cusp of it" so put him on antibiotics to nip it in the bud. all i know is that i've been home with 2 sick kids for 7 days now. if they can't go back to school on monday, i'm making dh take the day off and I'm going to kindergarten for the day.

Amen to the TV---or movie marathons! We ran through this H1N1 thing last week and this week. I was sick Saturday, DH Sunday (tough on him since he had to teach Sunday School and preach Sunday night), DD had it Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. She didn't have a choice, she was going back to school yesterday! Half of the school has been out here and there over the last two weeks.
I feel terrible for you. The cabin fever is terrible, and things can get grumpy fast when you're stuck inside. A 2-year-old in our church was found by his mama not breathing yesterday morning, having had a febrile seizure with a fever of 108.5. Upon arriving at the hospital, he began breathing on his own again. They determined he has pneumonia, H1N1, and the seasonal flu. (At least that's what we heard through the grapevine---I didn't even know you could have two strains of the flu at the same time!) They sent him home this morning. Thank goodness everything was mild enough that it didn't warrant him staying in the hospital. Our symptoms matched yours exactly! And I'm watching my kids because they are coughing a lot more today than they did yesterday. I think your hubby should take the day off to sit with the kiddos, just to give you some fresh air. Getting out for a little bit will help you re-energize.

How are things going Janice? Is everyone doing better? It's just rotten when the little ones get sick.
Sarah- I'm sorry to hear of your families illness as well. Hope everyone is doing better. Kelly, your Mom was brilliant. I think my kids are at the stage where there would be constant bells ringing. LOL. |
