We are losing our sweet dog Cody today. It's been such a tough decision to make and my heart is just absolutely breaking.
Cody is a golden retriever who has graced our family with his loving presence for more than 17 years. He's watched over our girls, stolen winter hats off their heads while running along side their winter sleds, made us laugh by holding three tennis balls all at once. His idea of fun when we lived in the country was to roll in something awful and come running home to share with his family. He's slept next to us, sat by our sides when we were sad, put up with a new puppy (his best bud Jackson) and the addition of three cats. He adores bananas, cheese and bread. He's truly the epitome of man's best friend and I am going to miss him so much. Thanks for listening...it's going to be a sad day here. Cody Boy - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals |

Oh Kerry, my heart is breaking for you, it is so sad to loose a treasure pet like that, I can still cry over my 2 dogs and it's been several years. Their loyalty and love is amazing and they become such a big part of the family. Big hugs to you!

Kerry, I know how hard this is for you and your family. We have gone through the same decision with four different dogs, and every time it was a gut-wrenching decision. My prayers are with you and your family. Blessings ...

Kerry, I am so sorry!! It just breaks my heart to read this, been there/done that and I know just how hard it is to lose such an important member of your family. I wish I was there to give you a hug and a shoulder today!
When we lost our dog years ago I found solace in the poem entitled...the rainbow bridge. In my heart I believe it's true, God wouldn't give us such an example of unconditional love if we weren't destined to be together forever!! Here is the poem: Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

I'm so sorry to hear this Kerry. It's such a horrendously difficult decision to make but so important for us to be strong and save them any more pain. We had to make this decision for both our dog and cat within a year and I still haven't been able to bring myself to get pets again.
Hugs to you and your family.

I have given Jasper's Day , Murphy and Kate & Dog Heaven as gifts to friends who have lost their best buddy. Sometimes reading the thoughts of others can give us ease I think. ((((hugs))))
