Default Our internet has died

... was just about to post something last night when our internet connection died on me!!...tried everything, re-starting the router, re-starting the computer, re-typed the password etc - NOTHING!!

Talk about panic! I had no idea I relied so heavily on the internet for everything! My husband thought I had gone completely mad, he just doesn't get it! That was until he realised that if I couldn't be visiting DD then I wanted a say in what TV programme we would be watching - erm, that means...NO SPORT!

So, I'm posting this from work and hoping that we manage to get things sorted this evening, maybe we just need a new router. Anyone else had this kind of problem?
It has really made me think though, how much I rely on it for everything.

Fiona

Sorry to hear about that-it is a habit to get on here and read and comment-and I understand about the sports-they were on our TV last night too, I just went in the other room! Hope you get it all figured out-did you call your provider?

we had a problem last week -- thought it was the router for a while--but we have internet phone, and that seemed to be part of the problem. shutting everything down for a while, doing some direct connects and slowly adding the pieces, we finally worked it out ( but never found the cause). one thing I have found more than once is that a cable is not plugged in.

Many times, and I feel your pain. A couple of times it was the router-- probably hit by lightening, then sometimes the the server - try calling them they might be down in your area.
I've kept our dial-up (they gave us a terrific deal) from pre-cable days to use at the lake and that serves as a backup. I'm on it now and I won't even bother going to the gallery, pulling up graphics is so sloooow!

It is so frustrating when the internet is down! Boy, we sure do rely on it, eh? I hope your problem is fixed soon, Fiona!

Once in a while this happens to us and we push the reset button on the Router and it fixes it. Hope this helps.

Since DH works from home and can't work when the internet is down things usually get resolved quickly. We have internet phone service too so he is really dead in the water without the internet. We certainly have come to rely on this method of communication!! Hope yours gets fixed soon!

No idea but 'I feel your pain' about losing the net. My retired dh also works from home and we have been really happy with our whole Verizon Fios combo. Crossing my eyes for you!

Fiona, It's a conspiracy against you, can't you see that? Between your job and technology, "they" are trying to keep you from sharing with us at DD! Don't let them win! We need you!

Oh no!! Hope you get it sorted soon.

Ours did that last month (on a night when my sis was staying over. I'd hogged the web all evening and was honestly about to pass it over to her when it just stopped working.)

On that occasion it fixed itself the next day after some combination of resetting the router/ computer/ swearing at it a bit lol.

Good luck!!

I know first hand how slow dial up is, and believe me, I keep praying someone will put fast internet in my area, but even as slow as it is, I would be lost without it.

Fiona, I feel your pain and hope you are up and surfing soon.
