And so I come in here to you all - with my head hanging a little low today and with a heavy heart - reaching out to where I have found friends - as any real life friends are few and far between.

I am in need of a virtual hug.

I got to know yesterday that my father, age 76 this December, has a tumor growing in his chest, most probably lung origin. We will know more once they have taken a biopsy this week. He is hospitalized tomorrow.

As you know, we visited them in Norway this August and he seemed very fine. Right after we had left, he started with a cough that we all thought was viral, but his health has rapidly declined in the last month. He did a CT on Friday. And now we know why he is not doing too good.

We don't know what it is yet and we can't say how "bad" it is. But it doesn't look good.

So here the time has come that I have been dreading so long. Living far away when times get tough.

I know the same feeling you are going threw at this moment, as it was just two years ago this exact same thing happened to me. I get tears in my eyes as I feel your pain. Two years ago my father of 50 was given his sentence with colon cancer......It was a terrible process to watch him suffer threw, and he hung on so hard, and it made it so unbearable to be by his side at the worst time in his life. I just wish I would have had the chance to know him better and say important things to him before he left....
Make sure you do that, say all the things in your heart to him, that way you have no regrets. Its a terrible thing losing a parent. I feel your heavy heart, as this thanksgiving was the last somewhat happy time I spent with my farther...
So if it makes you feel any better, I will give you a hug
