Alexander Grau Software Informer: Latest Alexander Grau software updates and reviews: Drive Rescue, Digital Image Rec...
There is a free program here called Digital Image Recovery that I used that actually worked. It's for windows though. Maybe there is a program for the Mac like it? |

yes!! Don't shoot with that card, the pictures are still there and can be recovered, to some extent!
This happened to me when I went to Newfoundland last summer I didnt shoot on it and took it to my local computer guys in town and they were able to recover most. I had some really weird ones show up, because I had never reformatted the card, so some were really wonky. I have faith you will see them again! Good luck!

Well, of course, I've subsequently shot on the card.
I was concerned that it might be a faulty card rather than my dumb goof. My only hope is that I've googled photo recovery programs and some promise recovery even if used or reformated. Sound possible??Jodi or Nichole, do you have the name of a recovery program? Is it Mac compatible? Heather, Kristin, I may take you up on your offers if I can't get this to work. I just realized, I also lost the group photo from the digiscrap. I am seriously bummed!! Thank you all for your support. I'll let you know what I can recover.

If you have not formatted the card, they are still there, whether or not you've shot since then. Don't format the card, and try a good program. I find that while the technology is similar, I didn't have as much luck with the free programs. You may have to spend $20 + to get software that will do it, or send it somewhere that does data recovery. For a photo card, it shouldn't be too expensive. It could be corrupt segments on your card; that's what happened with the Disney pictures I couldn't retrieve. Some had just been deleted, but others were on a sector of the card that was damaged. HTH! Don't despair until you've tried everything you think is worth trying.

Tracy, it will be a pain to retrieve them but from all I've heard it will work.
Love that photo - it must have been quite a sight seeing all these people taking photos! Once I was on a river cruise through the flood plains of northern Australia. I took a whole reel (36) of photos on my old SLR of the wildlife - waterbirds, crocodiles, etc. The next day I discovered the film had not been winding on. No photos!!! No chance to retrieve them in those days!

I don't attempt things like retrieving photos on my own, I was practically crying when I went into the computer store~ I figured I'd only have one chance at getting them back, so it was better to NOT leave it in my hands lol. Good luck let us know what happens!

I can't wait to hear how this goes Tracy! Love K's shot of you on the ground - oh, and maybe it's time the rest of us get to see you and not your dog !!! Nothing wrong about your dog, but I bet you are ..... well, less doggy. And I see you have blond hair, so that's a good thing.
In other words.... I want to see you in your avatar and your photos. I am crossing my fingers from across the seas. |

Keep us posted on the recovery - I would just be sick - I remember when I was new to my dslr & took some great pictures at the A&M bonfire memorial only to realize that I WAY overexposed every single one - I have my pictures - a few turned out fine - but I know you would rather have your own - let me know if you need these.
PS - had a great time on the trip & so glad to have finally met you guys - we need to do photowalks together occasionally!

Fingers and toes crossed for those pictures Tracy. (I was afraid it was your coat shedding into the camera but I see you actually have blond hair and only TWO legs.) <-- maybe that will give you a smile in this situation. Hope so!

Murphy's Law of Photography: If you use a photo recovery program to recover accidentally deleted photos, you will most likely recover just your blurriest photos.
![]() Just thought I'd pop in between REdoing LOs for a school yearbook (YUCK!) to say I've managed to recover some of the photos I had lost. YIPPEE!! I recovered about 270 photos. Of those, about 10 were corrupted and only partially downloaded. Unfortunately, two of those corrupt photos were the bridge shots of all the photowalk participants ... my ONLY two shots of all you lovely ladies. I'm still trying to work with the software tech support to recover even those as the thumbnails for all of them are intact, so keep your fingers crossed. The software is pretty cheap and easy to use. It is the Stellar Phoenix Mac Photo Recovery program. Thank you all so much for the offers of help and the suggestions concerning the recovery programs. I am so happy to have at least some of the photos from that memorable walk!! I may contact a few of you for some additional photos that I am still missing. Also, if anyone has a photo of everyone on the bridge, please PM me. I would sure love to get it!! Thank you for the shoulders to cry on and the crossed fingers!

Tracy, and anyone else wanting it, the shot Mike took of the photowalkers on the bridge as well as the one in the hotel, are both on a Shutterfly sharesite I am trying to figure out
It is http://hguenthe.shutterfly.com/ I have only uploaded a few of my photos so far but both of those shots are there and I uploaded them at full resolution so if you choose to do prints, it should be good up to 20"X30" prints. If you download them, it seems to be downloading at 1600pixels by 1200 pixels. Still working on uploading photos but if any from my book you are interested in, let me know and I will pop those up first. |
