Default Tis the first weekend of August, plans

hopes
dreams...lol

we haven't had much of a summer - temps in the low 70's and much to cold most days to hit the frigid waters of Lake Superior..and rain, I think every single weekend in July was overcast and rain

I am hoping for a summer type august with lots of sun
tomorrow is just a catch up day for us and sunday we travel back to MN for Madison's follow up appointments. We have had a few setbacks this month so we are hoping for some good news orthopedically. She has been in a fabulous mood this past week with a little med adjustment so that in itself is a huge relief. (and why momma has had some time to finally scrap)

have a great weekend everyone!

Have a great weekend!

Our plans are to clean up the rest of the house from the bathroom renovations and do some work on decluttering our lives as it is amazing how fast you get recluttered if you don't stay on top of it.

And a little Wii time and a lot of kitty playtime.

This has been "the summer that wasn't for us", too, Mary. Cold weather and soooooo much rain - we've spent half our time in sweatshirts instead of the 95 degree weather we usually have. School starts in 3 weeks.

After my children and grandchildren spent most of July visiting us in various combinations, I plan to spend most of the month of August just resting up! While this isn't an exciting plan, it will be good for my body and soul, and doesn't require any special weather!

We haven't had much of a summer either, both the weather and life playing havoc with it. I just hope the kids will have a chance to a little fun this month, school is just around the corner and we haven't done anything this year, not even Virginia for a weekend. I hope hubby will heal fast and maybe we can do something down the road.

I hope you have a great weekend, Mary, and everyone else!

I finished my summer Hebrew course Wednesday night-- nine weeks of intensive studying, so the summer just flew by for me! The past few days I have been almost giddy knowing I have 5 weeks of "free" time until classes start again.

This weekend, besides a zillion things around the house that have to get done, I plan to spend time playing with my photographs/photography/scrapping!

It's been cool here too.....70's and low 80's with the occasional day in the 90's to remind me how much I am enjoying the cooler weather!! We aren't getting a lot of rain. June and July have been crazy busy with lots of family visiting.....like Lynnie, I am soooo looking forward to a nice relaxing August!!

Have a safe trip to MN and hope Madison's follow-up goes well.

We've had a delightfully cool summer here which is the way I like it. Unfortunately, too much mental and emotional energy has been diverted to dying and seriously ill friends and family. But that's as it should be.

It's peach festival time in MD and we're enjoying that to the hilt. If I get some of that 'get up and go', I'll have the a/c cranked and do some canning. Peach chutney, tomatoes, and hopefully some fig preserves.

I don't look like a pioneer woman, do I!?!?! but I learned out at a 'canning camp' in 2006. What hot fun!

Oh, Maureen, can I have some of your peaches?? They sound wonderful.

I have less than a month until school starts and I'm back to work. This is the time of the summer when I start wondering where all the days went and why I didn't get anything done I had planned to do!
Probably will be a quiet weekend here. We're having dinner with friends at a place on the beach where the music is good.
Then it's laundry and cleaning and packing for our final hurrah of the summer . . . driving from Oregon to Wyoming and Colorado to visit family. We're stopping at the Salt Lake crop on the way!

Hope you all have a great weekend and a good August!!

Our drought finally subsided. So that's good! I've actually been able to water my poor flowers this summer. On the other hand, it's been rainy and cooler than normal

But I've had my girl home for 5 weeks. I'm sure it's the last of having any of the daughters around during the summer. I've been spending an inordinate amount of time just hanging out with her.

Not as much travel for us as usual this summer. But we'll make up for it someday!

Glad to hear your girl is improving, Mary!

Have a great August, everyone!

Saturday is a no plans day - love it!!!! I've scrapped a little, took photos of my birthday flowers before they died completely - lol & hopefully catch a good DVD tonite. Tomorrow my oldest will be home & we will grill outdoors.

Texas must have sucked all the heat out of the rest of the USA because it has been hot here, but much wetter than normal & that has been wonderful.

I'm just glad July is over...that was not a good month in our house!

In August I'm packing in all of summer we've missed! We are camping for the next three days, home for one day of work, one day of packing and then I'm off to Texas! Back for a little more camping, and packing in summer activities before we have to start the September routine!

We didn't get away for a vacation this year but did manage to get away for a long weekend. Work has been extremely stressful the last few weeks and I don't expect it to let up any time soon. We have had kids come home to visit--which is nice--but I'm tired of having them home. Had them for 5 weeks in June and July and tomorrow another one is showing up! The next week my brother and his wife are visiting from Florida. i tell you---it's hard having company!

School starts in 3 weeks but for us it seems like the school year starts on Monday---football starts Monday. We are planning on a big vacation next summer--the youngest kid graduates and we are free!!

In the meantime, I grab what time I can to golf and scrap.

Well I can sure add that NOT only Texas, but Florida too sucked all the heat... it was so hot and humid... I am personally spend most time indoors... except for the trip to Canada... looking forward to go to San Antonio... it almost got canceled for us, 'cause 4 days after returning from "Digicrop" we are leaving for cruise... on canals of Europe, on 14-th flying to Budapest, boarding the ship for 8 days, going thru 7 cities, it should be FANTABULOUS, getting off in Nuremberg, Germany... then we decided to fly to Amsterdam (never been there) for 4 days... definitely going to visit the Rembrandt museum, take boat tours and visit the "Red Districts" ... has anybody's been there... ??? I wonder if you can take pictures there, or I have to be "incognito" with my camera ??? so we have very busy August, but I don't mined being that kind of busy... LOL
Mary and everybody have a great weekend...

I'm sick of being cold, although I'm loving making soups at the moment, nice big hearty ones. Roll on Spring!!

We're hoping to build a covered patio where our pergola currently is. I have a hair-brained idea that we can keep our wisteria. I'm just hoping our plans can be finalized and approved before spring hits and the wisteria goes berserk again!

All this cool weather I am jealous. It stays high 90's for us. The past couple of weeks we have had a thunderstorm every evening which is just horrible for the humidity.

This weekend my aunt is giving my cousin a birthday cookout (Pig Pickin). He is home from Iraq for a month then he has to go back!!!
