Default Anyone play "The Grocery Game?"

I have been reading about "The Grocery Game" and am getting ready to sign up for the 4-week trial. Anyone have any experience doing this system? I am really bad about meal-planning and shopping in general so I thought I would give this a try and see if we can improve our grocery bill and food waste. The website and book claim a family of four can save over $500 a month on their grocery bill? That would be great but I am not holding my breath. We don't buy a lot of processed/snack/frozen food so I am wondering if this will work for us? I guess I will have to play to find out. I would love to hear if anyone has tried this and if it did or didn't work for you?!

Hey Julie, I have heard of the grocery game and checked it out too, I am HUGE into couponing and sale searching, so basically I do the grocery game on my own. The benefit of that "service" is they figure out all the deals/coupons to collect FOR YOU. You simply have to locate the coupons and use them. I easily save 400$ a month, I have learned what works and what doesn't, for our family, for our grocery stores, etc. It is addicting and such fun to see how much you can save! I would recommend the "Grocery Game" to begin with and you can see how its done, if you have time to do it yourself (search the web, search the papers, find all the sales and good coupons) then you can stop the service and do it on your own. Otherwise, I think it is a huge time saver to let them do it for you. Some other sites to check out for couponing is
Hotcouponworld.com
slickdeals.net
afullcup.com

I usually just use Hotcouponworld , and occasionally scout the other boards. Good luck!

I played The Grocery Game for a few months; pretty soon I realized that I could do just as well on my own. The main thing I learned is how much money you can save at CVS! I had no idea. Let me know what you think of it!

I got frustrated when the lists weren't on time... or like for Publix, when their new circular is active on Wednesday, the list comes out the following Saturday/Sunday.

I totally figured out how to do it on my own. It's good for stocking up on your staples, and figuring out what coupons you have if you're not organized. It does not help you with meal planning.

Thanks for the replies. I bought a paper yesterday to clip the coupons, but I see that the list they give you (for stockpiling at rock bottom prices) uses coupons from many past Sunday papers! So I guess I have to start collecting coupons to make it work best. I will give it a try, but I am really not very good at this kind of thing!

I will also check out those other coupon sites, thanks!

I have been using couponsense.com It's a lot like the grocery game, but their lists are on time! Try it out. And with them, you don't clip coupons until you need them-which is super nice. But yes it takes a while of saving coupons. Through couponsense you can get subscriptions to the paper relatively cheap.
