Default Blogger Blogs & Pictures

I need help figuring out how to get my pictures so that they aren't cut-off but whole. Right now the only way to see the whole picture is to click on the photo, but I know most people don't take the time to do that.

This is what I have been doing:
Resizing photo to 72dpi usually a 4x6 crop less than 100k
Uploading to Photobucket and loading at medium, then using the Photobucket link on my post.

I think it is something with the columns or HTML or something. I would appreciate any help! Here's an example of what I"m talking about:

If you click on the photo you can see the whole thing.

I'm not experienced enough with blogging to help you. I don't go through any of the steps you do and my photos appear to be intact and whole. I don't even resize the suckers. I load them straight from my computer and the setting is on medium.

Looking at the code for your template, I believe the maximum width that you can have your photos without them being cropped like that is 410 pixels wide.

With mine, I tend to go with 350 pixels wide just to make sure that they aren't cropped but that is mainly because with MacJournal, I can link my gallery photos which are already saved at 700 pixels and tell it to post at 50% size (350pixels).

Not sure why that's happening, I usually save mine at 72 dpi, then upload them straight from the computer and I haven't noticed any cropping. hope you sort it out.

HI . I use blogger and I resize my photos 300 dpi and 500px at the widest point. My photos don't appear cropped when I add them to blogspot

Thanks! I guess I'll try resizing them all again and see if it works.

Every template is different and you really need to look at the code.

Do you know where to look? I'm not sure what to change. When I did mess w/ the picture size via HTML it made the photo all skewed. I really want to make my main column wider with a little more space between the sidebar. I just don't know how to do that.

I forgot to mention that I lower my file size ( at saving ) to 100K-150K

You are looking to change the template sizing not the photo sizing. The main area you need to adjust is the Outer Wrapper but there may be some additional minor adjustments you need to do but I think for the template you are using, if you adjust this area of code first, you probably will achieve what you want.

Caution - use the Download Full Template option at the top of the Edit HTML window before starting so that if you need to, you can always just upload that saved copy if things go wonky.

Your code:
/* Outer-Wrapper
----------------------------------------------- */
#outer-wrapper {
width: 880px;
margin:0 auto;
padding:10px;
text-align:left;
font: normal normal 100% Georgia, Serif;
}
#main-wrapper {
width: 425px;
margin-left: 25px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
#sidebar-wrapper {
width: 200px;
float: right;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}
#left-sidebar-wrapper {
width: 200px;
float: left;
word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
}

From this, your layout seems to be a 880px document with a 10px padding around the 3 columns of 200px, 425px with a 25px inset for beginning of text, 200 px.

Suggestion is to try and make your entire document (outer-wrapper) a bit larger and then adjust your main wrapper for the increase in size. If you try to take size away from your side columns, you may find that you have more problems with widgets wrapping funny or disappearing from sight because they are larger than your column now.

Just enough bits to get by... it paid to get me through university... that and having umm... how many is it now... 4 or 5 computer programmers in the family, I think they talk code better than English.

Maureen ... I don't know the answer to any of your questions, but do know of a good "how to" book. It is "Publishing a Blog with Blogger" by Elizabeth Castro ... published by Visual Quick Project. I haven't used it to find out about resizing photos, but it has helped me with other things on Blogger.
