Default How did you find Designer Digitals?

I thought it would be fun to see how every one found their way to the place we now call our Digital home...

I found my way initially through Katie, Wendy, Janet, and Steph. I didn't become active on the message boards until March of 2008, when the switch to digital from paper was just a natural progression for me.

so, how the heck did you end up here?

I found DD through a magazine. I saw a layout in a magazine and it was a digital layout. When i looked through the credit and saw all the different digi sites I just went thru them. I instantly loved DD, but I was just a lurker for awhile though. Never posted or even signed up, just looked at all the cool layouts. I need to go look up when I first signed up here. I have it in one of my old calander books.

Another fun thread!! I found Designer Digitals through Heidi2008 and she doesn't even know me!! I was tooling around last December looking through all the wedding books in the Shutterfly community trying decide what I wanted to do with mine (yes, I've been thinking about the book for that long). I saw hers and thought it was gorgeous! She credited Designer Digitals, so I hopped over to check it out. I've been hooked ever since.

This is the link to the shutterfly book that caught my eye! Gallery Project Details

Well, "back in the day," (LOL!) Katie and Deena and Paula used to post DD pages at another site that I hung out at. And I knew Wendy was on the DT, too, and we've been friends for years. I used to just stare at all of their layouts and think, "I'll never be able to do that but it is soooooo cool!" And then, I started editing photos a lot more for my paper layouts and got comfortable with PSE and thought, "Hmmmmm.....maybe I really could do that." And I came here, looked around and was immediately hooked!!!

I found it by googling for "Best scrapbooking software for Mac" trying to find something easy to do the pages, and I already had and knew a little how to work with CS4, so when I was somehow lead to DD's page and found that it works with iPhoto and Photoshop...!!! that was like finding the GOLD MINE... for me !!!

I brought a newly released New Zealand Scrapbook magazine 2 years ago (for inspiration - I've never paper scrapped) and saw an article about 'digital' scrapbooking. I didn't know what it was, I'd never heard about it, but realised it was what I'd always been looking for - it combined my interests in photography, computers and memory keeping.
So I did a search - found DD - culled out all the rest - and I've been here ever since (literally ).

This is a fun thread! I was trying to remember how I found it and I think I was reading tutorials on Jessica Sprague's website when I first decided to learn digi and she credited some of her layouts here. After I saw one of patriciaz's layouts, I bought a couple of things she used and became hooked!

I knew Katie "way back when" before she was a designer and we hung out at another digi scrapping site. I was a huge fan of her layouts and absolutely followed her here!!

I was at shutterfly and I wanted to do an album but was disappointed over the lack of control, so I googled "digital scrapbooking" Found DD and purchased some items and lurked in the gallery as I had no idea what to do, I had never paper or digi scrapped before. I finally signed up to the message boards and joined in on a quarterly sale/chat in May of last year and hear I am. By the way I still haven't done that album...lol. The more I learn the more product I buy, the more I change courses for the album.

Kind of a blur but thinking back, I believe it was when I saw someone on another site use Anna's Hipster Plumes on a page and googled to find her & the plumes & ended up here. I was new to scrapping of any kind & liked the products here so stuck around.

Talking

I came across it via a pro child photographers group on Flickr. It's named in a big list of digital vendors they supply for us.
It was love at first sight.

Such a cool thread to read about how everyone found DD!

I realized that the pages I loved in magazines were digital, so I ventured into digital & eventually found DD when I was downloading every freebie available. I loved the community & the designers products so I stuck around. So glad I did b/c this is the best place around! (((Group hug everyone!!)))

I started scrapbooking over at another (inferior) digi site. I noticed a few gorgeous layouts that Bonnie (bjwtville) had posted. I commented how she always used the most beautiful papers. She pm'd back and told me that she got them at DD. It's been home ever since!

I can't remember exactly how I found DD. I think I did a search because I wasn't really satisfied with what I was finding elsewhere. I was irritated with magazines because when I tried to find the products used in paper stores they were never available in my area. And then I found this site and a few others but this one seemed to be the best all round and so here I am.

I think I just googled "digital scrapbooking freebies" and found the best ones on the web were here! But then, of course, I found so many other goodies and so much inspiration I decided to hang around!

Cool thread, Mary!

When I retired last summer, one of my goals was to investigate digital scrapping after paper scrapping for over 10 years. Once I began fooling around with PSE6, I googled digital scrapbooking. I started checking out the digital sites that came up and quickly realized DD was absolutely the best. I lurked for a few months and then started posting in September. Now it's my second home!

I took Jessica Sprague's classes and Katie was always so nice to provide products for them, and Anke was my friend there and so I started checking things out here more. Just love it too!

I first was intrigued by digital scrapping when I saw Steph's work at another site. Then, I would pick up digital magazines (loved the graphic styles there) for inspiration for my paper layouts. I noticed DesignerDigitals over and over again so when I was ready to start digital scrapping I started right here. That was about 14 months ago.

After a while I checked out other sites but I love the designers here, Kate is awesome and the community rocks!

When I started scrapbooking in 2004, there was another site that was big and I posted there some (I remember several of the *big names* from there ...) - then when the DD site opened up, I was a lurker here FOREVER before I took the plunge and became an active member in Feberaury 2008, I think it was.
Never looked back, as they say.

Looking for cool supplies. I lurked for a while, too. The "style" here is awesome - very sophisticated. Going through the galleries was like coming home. And after a while, I realized that the magazine pages I dog-eared were loaded with women from the DD community and DD supplies.

So, here I am, playing with better golfers and loving it!
