To be honest I can't quite remember, but I think it would have been when I first tried digi scrapbooking and then google became my friend as I very quickly became obsessed with the craft and landed here.

My sister-in-law is a big paper scrapper. I spent a week with her in Florida a few years ago and loved the idea of scrapping. Made a few paper pages, but always used the computer for some part of the LO. Finally got tired of redoing because things weren't cut straight etc. Jessica Spragues first Computer Tricks came out about that time, DD was credited and the rest is history. So happy to have found this great place.

I don't know if I remember how or when I first came across DD, but I didn't do any digital scrapbooking at that time. I have seen and drooled over a lot of the digital LO's in CK (especially DSM which I miss sooooo much). But at the beginning of this year I took a class over at Jessica Sprague's and like Amy was really struck with Katie's generosity. Once I started hanging around here, I was hooked.

Maybe two years ago, I was watching a scrapbook program on TV (scrapbook memories) when one of the instructors began using the computer. She credited DD for an element/paper and so I became a "lurker" too. Had no idea just what was available. Had not participated in any online sights so had to get my toes wet before I felt comfortable. It's been such fun for me. I began making a ton of digi cards to send to a friend with cancer and then the pages began. I wish I had the time to do the pages that are on my list. I'm old with lots of memories to scrap
I LOVE checking out the site several times a day and have so much product that I drive myself crazy when I do have the time to jump in... just like the paper days. Oh my... Thanks ladies for sharing such a delightful part of my day. May not be too visible but I'm definitely here when I make the time.

I took the Up and Running class over at Jessica Sprague's site and I believe there was a discount coupon given at the time plus Katie had supplied several great goodies for the class. I shopped here for months before I finally got up the nerve to check out the MB and gallery.

I love this thread! I've often wondered where our loyal little family came from.
![]() As for me, I got to know Katie when we both served on several Creative Teams "back in the day". One day she told me that she was going to try "starting a little storefront" (yeah...that's REALLY what she said!) and I knew that I definitely wanted to hook my star to wherever Katie was going ... best decision I ever made!

AH! Today I was cleaning up my office, and getting rid of my ridiculous pile of old receipts, and I found one from Mar. '08 from Barnes and Noble, showing that I purchased Digital Scrapbooking and BHG Ultimate Guide to Digital Scrapbooking. I remember sitting and having coffee and reading magazines at B&N with two friends, and the name Designer Digitals kept appearing in the credits of the layouts I liked. I think Katie's Digital Date Stamps No. 7 was a freebie somewhere about that time. Little did I know then that I was about to become addicted....
I was going to scan the receipt and make a layout about it, but it looks like I accidentally shredded it with all the others!

A friend was telling me about digital scrapbooking and hooked me on their program and it was pretty affordable way to give it a try. Unfortunately, the elements they made available, didn't really match my style. I googled Digital scrapbooking elements and looked around at the first two or three sights that came up. To be honest I don't even remember what the other two were. There was so much to choose from and it was so affordable, that I stayed. I love it here.
Unfortunately summer hit and I have a huge garden and my flower beds that demand most of my time, another pro, I am now looking forward to fall and winter months.

I saw Katie's work in mags and heard her interviewed on DigiTalkRadio (I think that was/is the name) and so totally felt the difference in the materials here and anywhere else. CLASS. QUALITY. DESIGN. CONSISTENCY...... EASY TO LOVE. Permanent home.

I had been paper scrapping for 14 years and followed Ali Edward's classes and blog so when she got into doing things on her computer I watched her but thought I don't think I'll ever go that route. I was teaching classes at HL and one of my students told me about Jessica Spragues' classes and got me on board with her to take it. Up to that time I had been self taught in PS but hadn't really taken the digiscrapping plunge, PS was more for photoediting. But after Jessica's classes and seeing all of the items donated by Katie I jumped over to DD to visit. I uploaded a few of my layouts and the amount of feedback and welcome at this site was amazing. So I lurked for awhile and downloaded all of the freebies and eventually felt "guilty" that I hadn't bought anything after taking all of the freebies. I was finally hooked in during an all day chat and have been a fan ever since. I think I shop more than I scrap but it's all fun.
I am very impressed with the level of service at this site. The generosity is overboard and the behind the scenes efficiency of the website is stellar to any other digi site out there. You guys make it look effortless but we all know that it is quite the contrary. What I want to know is how the heck does Katie come up with new product on a weekly basis? That is just some crazy amount of creativity there.

I had been a paper scrapper for almost 30 years. Started out with CM when my kids were just babies....I cringe when I look at those albums now!! I subscribed to several magazines in about 2007 and saw a few of the all digital LO's. I would look through the credits and found that DD was a common thread throughout. I was still on dialup, so all I could do was lurk and post an occasional comment . When we entered the 21st Century and got satellite internet I was able to participate more actively, posting LO's and participating in chats.
I did lurk at another popular site.....but when I found DD, there was no sense going anywhere else. This site is so friendly and welcoming and have the best designers...bar NONE..... I agree with Patricia....PERMANENT HOME! Thanks for all that you do for us Randy & Katie....you are the BEST!

Hmmm...I started out as a paper scrapper in 1996 when I was dragged to a neighbors house for a scrapbooking "party"...I don't remember what company that was now, but it was enough to get me started! Then I became unemployed for several months in 2005, and started scrapbooking with Photoshop 7.0 as a temporary measure, just so that I could plan out layouts (for free) that I intended to recreate someday in paper when I had an income again, and could afford the supplies. But while doing that, I discovered that I could make my own backgrounds! And embellishments! And I could make the pictures any size I wanted, and alter them with filters! And! And! And! I was certain that I had discovered something marvelous. For a while there, I believed that I was the only one! Yes, I invented digital scrapbooking!
Then I found a magazine somewhere on the subject and realized that my invention was a known hobby...I was delighted to not be alone, but slightly dismayed that my discovery was not as exclusive as I thought! I found DD at some point, but was quite happy making my own supplies, so I drifted away. Then, recently, I was eating lunch at my workplace and discussing hobbys with a terrific older co-worker who mentioned in passing that his son and daughter-in-law were involved in a business involving scrapbooking and the Internet. (I had mentioned scrapbooking, but not digital scrapbooking...I thought he would have no idea what I was talking about!) Long story made short...he is Katies father-in-law, and Randys dad! I decided it was high time to look at DD again...and here I am!Cathy T. |

I used to read a scrapbooking magazine and collect the supplies that Ali Edwards used on her paper pages. I NEVER scrapped a paper page (but I still have all those supplies
). Somewhere I read about Jessica Sprague's classes ... I signed up and used Katie's products for the class. I have been here ever since.

I was a dedicated follower to a paper stamping/scrapping site, which had a digital section. I previously had only used a computer to print journalling and a few embellishments, but there were some pages that I just loved in a way that I didn't feel about paper layouts. The freebies got me to lurk around, and then a quarterly sale with the all day chats got me hooked. Can't imagine not checking the gallery every day.

I'm a paper scrapper and bought a book from Ali Edwards. I liked it very much and decided to surf on the internet on her name. Then I found her blog and then Designer Digitals. I loved to see that I have many stamps (from Ali Edwards, Danelle Johnson and Katie Pertiet) that I've used to scrap on paper, that are here offered digital.

Been paper scrapping for about 50 years. About 5 years ago, I started scanning photos, fabrics, movie tickets, wedding certificates, sports letters and objects to use in paper layouts so I could preserve the originals. Started exploring online for this and that and discovered the world of digital supplies! I so appreciate the encouragement and help the DD community offers on a daily basis. DD supplies--cutting edge, user-friendly, and quality!!!

DD stood out from the crowd because of its designers. First and foremost is Katie for obvious reasons, including that she just happens to be my favorite. The kit that endeared me to her forever was Sunday Stroll. But lots of other DDs are highly favored in my collection, Anna Aspnes, Lynn Grieveson, and many, many others are heavily represented. So I watched this community for a while and both the quality of the layouts and the nature of the discussions told me this is where I can feel at home. Plus Randy is so helpful and patient with me!
