Unhappy ACDSee killed my computer?

I am really trying not to freak out, but ever since last night my computer has been crashing...really badly. I was able to do a fair amount in photoshop with ACDSee open for awhile, but that was after it crashed (just shut off) a couple times and then it did again later in the night. I haven't been able to get it to stay on for more than 20 minutes at all today. I uninstalled ACDSee and ran a sweep on my computer, but something is still messing with it and I am loosing my mind. I count on my scraping time every night to round out my day (and I have tons of cute pictures from this weekend to play with!).
Has anyone else had eperience with this? I feel like I remember seeing a post about memory issues or something, but I am writing this from my blackberry so it is kind of tricky to navigate the message boards...
Oh, and BTW - my computer is 5 years old but I just added 2GB of RAM and it has been supporting PSE 7 no problem...

I know nothing about ACDSee but here is the other post that I think you were mentioning seeing.

Hey, Tesia. Sorry about this. I know it is maddening. I hate to have to volunteer this info but I had that problem when I my RAM failed. And it wasn't very old either. If you can't find any other reasons, consider that and it=f it is recent perhaps there is a warranty on the RAM. Let us know.

Have you optimized you ACDsee database recently?
If I don't optimize at least once a week, I get a lot of hang ups and freezes.
In general ACDSee uses very little memory compared to other programs.

The other thing that could make Photo Manager crash is if there is a file name that is too long. If you recently downloaded something that has along file name, you can go through Windows to rename it to something shorter.
Oh I just looked at the other thread that was mentioned and Marcie discussed it.
And definitely check out digiscrapinfo.com and acdsee.com for more tips.

Oh man, that would be so sad! But THANK YOU so much for putting that out there...not something I would have ever thought of but certainly worth considering! It seems to be behaving slightly better (?) at the moment...I haven't tried opening anything other than my virus scan but I don't think it has crashed on that yet today?

Yay! I managed to do two layouts tonight in PSE7 with no problems. ACDSee is no longer on the computer though...don't know if I am going to be brave enough to try putting it back on?
