Default Using K. Pertiet's stamp block frames #1

In the shop on the page where stamped block frames #1 brushes and stamps is shown there is an example of a green stamped frame on top of a creme colored card. How do you create the creme colored card? I use PSE 6. I would so appreciate help with this.

Thank you Janet STanwyck

Hi, Janet. Welcome to the forums.

You can see a close-up of that page by Katie HERE.

It looks to me like Katie made an active selection of the frame stamp once it was on its own layer and expanded the selection by about 10-20 pixels. Then she created a blank layer, positioned it beneath the frame layer, and filled it with a cream color.

Although it may seem unrelated, this tutorial actually addresses the same concept. Instead of creating a white sticker effect, you'd be creating a cream sticker-effect. The reason the cream area on Katie's layout looks a little "rough" on the edges is because her original selection (the frame) had rough edges.

Thank you for the reply. I can see how to make the layer a bit bigger then the frame but what about the opening which is a little smaller?

You need to go to Select > Modify > Expand to make your selection larger, don't just resize it. Once you do that the selection will expand in all directions, making the inner opening smaller.

Ok, I will download the tutorial and see if it will get into my thick head. I will address other questions I have and please point me in the right direction. I actually was able to create the creme layer and my problem is I put a selection around the stamp but if I expanded from that it only did the outside. Somehow I clicked somewhere and the marching ants went all around all the black so when I expanded it did just what you said. But now I have no idea how I did that. Then getting the stamp green and lastly how to get it so the picture does not show through the holes in the stamp. I better be sure, when I do this I use the stamp of the frame and not use the brush correct?

I learn and then I don't use the techniques many times then I forget and don't know how to find out how again.

Again, I really appreciate this help. Off to download. Janet

I downloaded the tutorial, looks like much fun to try, but I went for the last page and between your insights the tutorial and Photoshop elements 6 for Mac I got something that looks like the sample. Lot's of room for improvement but it is a start. Now I need to do it several times so it etches a small groove of memory in my brain.

I am going to try and attach a file so you can see what it looks like.

that looks pretty cool to me! You did a great job! Aren't those tutorials just great? After a while the tips become second nature.
