i'm not on a mac, a pc, but versions 5/6/7 of pse for the pc load styles differently than the earlier versions. you have to copy the style file in it's folder to home drive/documents and settings/all users/application data/adobe/photoshop elements/5.0/photo creations/special effects/layerstyles.
then restart pse and they should be there. don't know if it works that way in mac or not, but might be worth a try.

Rusheika,
Here are the instructions for PSE6 and Mac: Put the action file (.atn) in this folder: Macintosh HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects\ The Library file is the MAIN library folder, not the one in the system folder and not the one in your user folder. Start PSE. Access the actions in the actions palette under SHOW ALL. If your new actions do not show up at this point, you can try the following. Close PSE. Go to the following directory, find the file MediaDatabase.bd3 then rename it MediaDatabaseOLD.bd3. Macintosh HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en-US Open PSE again. This will cause PSE to rebuild the database (but you'll have the OLD version as a backup anyway.) |

(on a mac) I don't have PSE6 but I just tried with my old PSE4 and it works the same with my CS3/CS4 so hoping this is right info for you:
I put it into the place you did (presets-styles) and then in PSE4, I had to go to the place "Effects and Styles" section is and where the drop down says effects, change that to layer styles. And then the drop down next to that, mine originally said Bevels but I picked KPertiet_DropShadowStyles from the list and then they all showed up for me. Good luck! I would be so lost without them. They make life so much easier. EDIT: Yay - Sara responded and she knows PSE6!

I also have PSE 6.0 on a Mac.
I have tried this so many times and it just won't work for me.... With Anna's .asl file that came with her Curled Paper Edges and the one that came with her Everyday Inspiration freebie for Feb. 21. I tried putting the .asl where Rusheika said and I tried putting it where Sara said. I notice Rusheika is talking about a .asl and Sara is talking about a .atn. I think I read I can't use .atn files with PSE 6.0 but that I can use .asl files. Help!

Lynn, it seems to work for some but then some have to go an extra step it seems and adjust the metadata on the file.
In this thread jphutc lists near the bottom that extra step that she had to do to get it to work. Good luck!

Hi, Rusheika,
Heather helped me out by directing me to the right thread with the directions found by jphutc Here I was able to load the .asl files from both Anna'a Curled Edges and the 2/21 Everyday Inspiration labels. It involves editing the .xml files, and I always get nervous doing such things, but was really easy and it worked out OK.
