Question How do you....

Hi everyone, I'm definitely as new as it comes to digital scrapbooking. I've been scrapbooking (traditionally) for 10 years now, though. Bear with me as I figure out how to word my question. I have 2 nieces whom I'm trying to keep scrapbooks for to give to them when they graduate high school (the oldest is 10 and the youngest is 7). SO, with that background knowledge, my first digital scrapbook is going to be of 2008 (seems appropriate) and they are in a lot of my photos so will be included on those pages. Is there a system that anyone uses to "tag" or categorize your scrapbooks so that when Kate graduates high school I have a copy of only the 12x12 pages she's in, all ready to be reprinted for her own book? I'm thinking about how you can tag photos in Facebook or Flickr, click on the "tag" and then only see the photos which the tagged person is in. So that only the scrapbook pages KATE is in will come up and I'd be able to print just those.

Maybe someone has a quick and easy solution that I am unaware of??? I'd like to start out organized from the beginning to make my life easier later on

Thank you!
Christina

I don't have a solution for tagging but an idea that might work...

oh but first, welcome to DD! Glad you are taking the plunge!

You might consider starting a shutterfly album for each of them so that you just upload your pages for each to their albums as you make them. Then over time you'll watch their books grow and have them all set up and ready to print when their graduation years approach. Of course, this is trusting that things remain constant at Shutterfly which I think is a safe bet!

I hope you share your creations with us!

Thank you, Katrina, I'm so happy you understood my question!! My only hesitation with Shutterfly is that I would *have* to print them there, no? Or am I able to save them to my computer from Shutterfly to send anywhere else to print?

Another thought I had was just to create a file on a thumb drive and when I'm done creating a page just copy the relevant pages into separate files on that drive...

Could you just have a folder on your HD for each of them where you store the pages? If you have pages with both, you could just put a copy in each.

Welcome to DD!

Hi 1gr8muggle! Thanks for the welcome, everyone here is so nice

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to do it manually. I was hoping for an easy way to just tag it and have it be automatic, but I guess I'll just have to stay diligent and make copies!

you might be able to tag them depending on the software you are using

and yep, you'd have to print at Shutterfly

Do you have mac? iPhoto in iWork '09 now includes sorting and finding photos by face recognition. And welcome to DD!

Hi everyone! I did some research and figured out how to tag in PSE4. I'm going to try messing with it a little more so that I can actually tag the scrapbook page, but it looks like this is going to work!!! Thanks for all of your suggestions!!
