Default What is your dream computer?

If you could have any computer what would it be?

What do you use now ... pros and cons?

Any dream software?

My computer is on the verge of a big crash ... I have no idea what to get ... another PC (I have a Dell) or a Mac (can I move all of my files over)? Will I pull out my grey hair!

The hardest thing about computers, I think, is that just when you get new there is newer in a month or two!
I say go for as much RAM and the best processor that you can afford. Programs- that would depend on what you use to scrap!
Have fun!

The problem with going from a Mac to a PC (or PC to Mac) is that you probably won't be able to use most of your existing programs. Depending on what you currently own that could be a huge expense.

I agree with Candy....the single most important thing you need to look for is RAM. If you can afford it I'd go with 1 GIG in a PC. Also, if you are using this primarily for graphic design you'll want to get a GOOD video card. The combination of these two will make your software run much better when you design.

If money isn't an issue....it's PSCS2 and all it's bells and whistles. BUT with that said, PSE has 90% of the same features that the full PS does and really packs enough punch for most scrappers. Be aware of two important drawbacks. PSE does not contain the paths feature...nor can it run actions. But it's a dandy little program for the price!

Sheesh...listen to me sounding like I'm all that and a bag of chips too! Hope this helps some!

I have a Dell with 3 gigs of RAM, a dual processor, and 2 dvd burners. It rocks. The thing moves so fast! I think that dual processor makes a huge difference.

That's why I have delayed buying a laptop. My husband thinks I'll hate it. I'm use to fast, fast, fast!

Angie... just got a "flyer" from Dell. You mentioned the dual processor on your PC....

So, does a dual processor laptop run fast? (They've got a couple of those.) Is it faster than a "regular" laptop? But, not as fast as a PC?

I know nothing about dual vs. solo processors... can you tell?

Gosh Gals ... thanks so much for the good advice! I have just returned from two straight weekends and one solid week of family reunions and am leaving for a two week trip to Scotland in a few days, so I haven't had much time to think of my new dream machine. I was able to "fix" a problem with my old PC so that it is up and running again so I am not quiet as desperate as a few weeks ago. I have spent an hour or so on three different days at the Mac store in our mall and have talked to several Mac and Dell users ... they with your comments are leading me in two directions ... will make a decision after our vacation!
I HATE making such big and expensive decisions too !!!!!

I know exactly what you mean!

My mind is pretty much made up! I am going to get myself a MACBOOK Pro 17-inch with 2 GB RAM.

The whole PC to Mac thing is such a big issue - but here is a site that you might find handy:

Switching to Mac.

It is full of great articles and tips, as well as a forum where you can ask any questions pertaining to a switch from mac to pc! I have found out lots of 'stuff' just by browsing!

Sorry, Debi. I'm just not sure. I know that having a dual processor means that more things can run simultaneously without causing delays. I'm not sure how a dual processor on a laptop would compare to the desktop.
