Question Another Mac Question

Do any of you have a .mac account? My trial period ends in 6 days and I don't know if it's worth the fee. The only thing I've used it for is the email account.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

I do have it and I use it all the time. I backup my personal settings daily (address book, iCal, Keychain (passwords), Safari Settings, Stickies) . . . plus I use it to create a family website. The basic membership gives you 10GB space now, and that's enough to support years of family updates. I also love the iDisk feature. I'm able to store files on my iDisk and share them with family/friends who have a .Mac account. Plus, I use the Backup software available to .Mac members to backup to my EHD weekly. It's very simple to use. Of course, I use iChat, too, but you can continue to use your trial .Mac account name to use iChat for free, even if you choose not to renew your membership.

Cassie,

Where do you back your EHD to? I use backup to backup my personal setting as well but ran out of room trying to back up my EHD (it has about 70GBs on it). I recently backed up about 17 layouts to iDisk figuring they would be safe there until I backed them up to DVD but it took about 8 hours!!! I just starting taking advantage of .mac so after seeing your post, I'm wondering if I'm using it all wrong!

Sorry Brenda, I'm not much help b/c I obviously have no idea what I'm doing!

No, Suzanne, you're not doing it wrong. It does take time to save to the iDisk. I use the software "Backup" to set up my back up schedules. You can tell it to back up any disk to any other disk/CD/DVD . . . I have schedules to backup from my internal HD to my EHD. It has nothing to do with iDisk.

I have .mac and LOVE it!

I use it for mail and especially the "gallery"... This way I can post my LO's and pics for my family to see!!!

It is definitely worth the $$ in my opinion!
