Default How do you organize your digi kits?

I'm trying to put my stuff in some semblance of order...yikes! How do you do yours...keep the kits together, separate out PP and embellishments, frames, etc...ack! I need guidance here!

I'm not sure if mine is the best solution but I like to keep my kits together. I have them in folders by designer. I try to print out a contact sheet so I can see what's in each kit. I don't like to split them out because then I find it hard to figure out who made what - thereby making it difficult when I'm writing my credits. It does get to be a pain though when I want to find a staple or something and I have to search through kits to find one!

My system is a lot like Paula's. I Have a folder for different sites that I visit, and within each of those folders I have folders for each designer. I've reorganized my papers and kits several times and this system has worked the best for me
Good luck...it can be overwhelming

Ditto for me as well. I organize by site name/shoppe, and then designer, and then kit name.

I also use iview Media (thanks to the tip from Tali!) so I can search for individual elements with keywords. Best thing I've done when it comes to scrapbooking! It makes searching a breeze, and it also allows me to get more mileage out of elements that I would have otherwise forgotten that I had!

I have one folder with all my complete kits and then I've split everything and tagged it in seperate folders in my photo browser at PSE4. (stitching, brushes, buttons, frames etc..) So now I have both -complete kits and seperate items.
It took me forever but I like to be able to "just throw stuff together" off and on

When I first started digiscrapping (back in the dark ages!) I pulled my kits to pieces, but quickly realized that this was an organizational nightmare ... now I keep the kits intact, create a folder for the website like DesignerDigitals, and create within it, folders called, for example, Alphas, Elements, Kits, Paper packs, Brushes, and sort the bits and pieces I buy into there. This is the best way I have found to keep track of designers and kit names, so that I can give credit where credit is due. Hope this helps, Sharon

I have directories for each designer on my hard drive and then keep the kits together in subdirectories under them. But what I DO force myself to do is open up Photoshop Album (aka the photo browser that comes with PSE..I don't use PSE, but I do use the Album) and assign keywords to each item in a kit right after I download it. That way I can search for an individual item such as a button, or all buttons by Katie...or all buttons by Katie and Kellie, etc. just by clicking on the appropriate keyword.

I have created keywords within the program for each designer's name as well as things like stitching, ribbons, tags, backgrounds, etc.

It takes extra time to go through and do this with each download...but really pays off when I sit down to scrap and want to find all of my staples (for example) and choose the right one for a layout!

I make one folder that says "Digital Stuff" then I make sub-folders in that folder. For example:
Sub-folder: designerdigitals
Sub-folder: Scrapartist: etc... (fast forward)
That way you can remember where you got them from. I don't need to separate papers from elements but leave the whole pack in the folder within sub-foder: designerdigitals.

It is same way what I do with images and if I see one that I like because of its design or whaetver then I make a folder : Scrapartist>sub-folder>name of scrapper such as AlohaMamma. If you like some of my layouts and do on right sided, click on save image and put into that folder. So you can remember whose this layout made by and where it is from.

That is how I organize all the stuff and it is much easier for me to know where they are.

So far, good? Hopes this helps!

Default organizing files

i've found this works really well if you have photo organizer that comes with PSE:

i created a catalog just for scrapbook stuff (i have a separate catalog for my photos)
i organize each kit as i buy it, naming it first by author, then by the kit name. each kit then goes into a "collection" with that name
i also tag the elements of each kit with tag names i've created like: frames, doodles, buttons, ribbons and bows, etc. that way if i'm looking for something specific, i can just click on the tag name and see all my frames for example.

this works really well for me. you just have to keep it up as you go. but i can find whatever i want at a moment's notice.
