Default what paper do you print your lo's on ?

hi there everyone.

I printed my lo's for the first tine today . I have an A3 EPSON r1800 printer and I use 12x12 format. I printed on cardstock (white) but the colours re very dead & dull.

What paper do you use. The A3 "photo paper" is very expensive but I wonder if itsnt worth i for the better crisp looking lo's.

Thanks

sam

Sam-

Yes, cardstock seems like it would be so porous that it would "soak up" the ink, leaving a somewhat dull result.

I use Epson Premium luster paper (I use 13" x 19" -- although it's available in different sizes), and have never been disappointed! It's a bit pricey, but I get it off of ebay, and can find some decent deals. The finish is what I would consider a satin finish -- not too glossy, but enough to give a beautiful finish to photos/layouts. I would think that this paper would work very well with your specific printer.

I just had a look on ebay and unfortunately they seem to ship only to usa, but thansk I will keep looking. Do you
buy it in a roll --100/50 sheets or 20 sheets. ?

Also seems sch a waste when yoju cut off the remander of the paper if you scrap in 12x12 --and the a3 is much bigger.... ???

I use Epson Matte Paper Heavyweight. It's just great, very matte eggshell finish. But it doesn't soak up too much ink, it's just perfect.

And now I looked back and see that you scrap 12x12. I was told that Epson's Scrapbook paper is the same, only it's double sided. (A waste, i think- I wouldn't print on both sides of a lo.)

Sam-

I don't buy it by the roll -- I usually get 50 or 100 single sheets at a time. I know that they sell it at staples.com, but again -- it will be pricier. I will let you know if I find any other "outlets" to buy it at a cheaper price -- better yet -- let me know if *you* find anything as well!

Happy printing!

Dinah

I print everything on Ilford paper now- Pearl. I have tried piles of papers and once I tried the Ilford, I'll never try anything else- it is so close to photo lab paper- pro lab paper- it rocks.

well I probaly shouldn't even answer this one, but I stopped printing mine because it just takes so much ink and our Costco does such a great job so for $4.99 each ( 12x18) it's worth it to me!

this is also why I was asking the question, cos the ink herer in sa is VERY expensive --and if you have a full page of paer colour it can be expensive to print !

But I just dont know who would print it here.. I will keep looking ~!

Do most of you do 12x12 or 11x8 or what ???

I too print on Epson Matte Heavyweight paper ... would love to try the Ilford Pearl, but can't find it in my area. I use the Epson R1800 ( just got it a couple of months ago ), but am having trouble with the edge to edge thing without losing text. I posted today on this site and got a great answer from SAHmom with what I hope will solve my problem. Wish we could just e-mail you the papers and inks at our prices and solve your problems as easily as questions can be answered here by email ! I use the KOLO looseleaf 8 1/2 by 11" binders and love them for my pages.

that would be so nice readtoomuch !!! but thanks for even saying that.

I found that the edge to edge thing I also battled with but when I selected the printer after I have said print - and select the size 30x30 (cos that what I print ) and then on the first print screen tick - print to fit ! and borderless - That prints it all the way edge. I think your problem may be the borderless is untiked.

Hope I help !
